Attending the ceremony were comrades: Pham Van Lap, Chairman of the City People's Council; Dao Trong Duc, Chairman of the City Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Le Anh Quan, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee. Also attending were leaders, former leaders of the city and localities; representatives of leaders of departments, branches, sectors, and the city's armed forces; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, veteran revolutionary cadres; former district leaders through the periods; representatives of enterprises, sister units, and a large number of cadres, civil servants, and public employees of the district.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Bui Hung Thien, Secretary of Do Son District Party Committee emphasized: Exactly 70 years ago, on May 15, 1955, Do Son town was officially liberated, ending the French colonial rule, opening a new era for the land rich in revolutionary traditions. The red flag with yellow star flying on the high hilltop at Ben Nghieng is not only a symbol of victory but also a vivid testament to the patriotism, bravery and aspiration for independence and freedom of the people of Do Son.
Since the liberation day, under the leadership of the Party, the Party Committee and the people of Do Son have made efforts to restore the economy , stabilize life, and gradually promote the role of a solid rear in the two resistance wars to protect the Fatherland. In particular, during the renovation period, Do Son has made strong changes, effectively exploiting the potential of its geographical location, tourism and marine services, increasingly affirming its role as an important tourist center of Hai Phong city.
Entering a new development phase, Do Son district clearly defined its strategic vision: to build Do Son into a modern, ecological, civilized, and unique coastal tourism city. During the 25th District Party Congress (2020-2025), despite facing many difficulties due to the pandemic and natural disasters, the district still completed 17/18 main targets, of which 7 targets exceeded the set plan. The average economic growth rate reached over 18.3%/year. The cultural and social fields had many positive changes; national defense and security were maintained; the work of building the Party, government and political system continued to be innovated and improved in quality. Currently, the district is focusing on implementing many large-scale dynamic projects such as: Dragon Hill International Tourist Area, BRG Coastal City resort complex, smart entertainment and resort areas and marine logistics service system... Urban infrastructure is invested in synchronous and modern renovation, gradually affirming the position of Do Son as an attractive four-season tourist destination for domestic and international tourists.
In recognition of these outstanding achievements, on this occasion, the President awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, Government and People of Do Son District according to Decision No. 847/CTN - dated August 26, 2024. This is a noble award demonstrating the appreciation and trust of the Party and State for the outstanding efforts in socio-economic development, ensuring social security, maintaining national defense and security of the locality. The President also awarded the Third Class Labor Medal to Hai Son Primary School, the Government's Emulation Flag to the Party Committee, Government and People's Government of Ngoc Xuyen Ward and the Government's Certificates of Merit to a number of individuals and collectives of the district.
Within the framework of the program, the Standing Committee of the Do Son District Party Committee solemnly announced the results of editing, supplementing and rewriting the book "History of the Do Son District Party Committee (1930-2025)" . Based on the book "History of the Do Son District Party Committee (1930-2010)" published previously, the 2010-2025 period was researched, synthesized and newly compiled, truthfully and comprehensively reflecting the outstanding achievements of the Do Son District Party Committee and People in the period of innovation, integration and development. The book is a political-historical work with profound traditional educational value, affirming the comprehensive leadership role of the District Party Committee during 95 years of construction and growth. On this occasion, the Do Son District Party Committee organized the presentation of the book to typical Party organizations, agencies and units in the district.
The 70th anniversary of Do Son Liberation Day is an opportunity to review the heroic tradition and pay tribute to previous generations who sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the nation. This is also an opportunity to arouse the will, aspiration for development and the spirit of solidarity, innovation and creativity of all cadres, party members and people of Do Son in the cause of building an increasingly rich, civilized and modern homeland. With pride and responsibility before history, the Party Committee, government and people of Do Son district are determined to continue to promote the revolutionary tradition, uphold the spirit of innovation, arouse the aspiration for development, successfully achieve the set goals, worthy of being a "steel fortress" on the East Sea coast, a bright spot in the development strategy of Hai Phong city./
