Amazed by the labor and production achievements of Uncle Ho's soldiers

Young man Nguyen Xuan Giap (born in 1994, from Thanh Hoa ) eagerly visited the large-capacity container ship model at Tan Cang-Cat Lai port. The female employee on duty at the exhibition area handed Giap virtual reality (VR) glasses and gave him detailed instructions on how to use them. Putting on the massive VR glasses, Giap was slightly startled as he lowered his head to look down. "I felt like I was floating in the air looking down at a giant port, on the vast ocean with large-capacity ships, container trucks stretching along the wharf, a towering crane system and a huge amount of cargo containers," Giap said about his experience wearing the glasses.

Visitors experience virtual reality glasses, viewing the panoramic view of Tan Cang-Cat Lai port of Saigon Newport Corporation.

Nguyen Xuan Giap said he had heard a lot about Vietnam's regional and world-class deep-water ports but had never seen them directly from such a wide angle, so he was very surprised by the scale and stature of Tan Cang-Cat Lai port. "I believe that in just a few years, our country's seaport system will develop on par with Korea, Singapore and Japan. Our country's marine economy , especially the maritime transport industry, will become an industrial spearhead to help our country develop strongly," Giap said.

Visitors to the exhibition space of the Ministry of National Defense were all extremely impressed by the scale of the exhibition both indoors and outdoors. In addition to admiring the array of modern weapons and military equipment of the Vietnam People's Army, many people were particularly interested in the economic production development achievements of Uncle Ho's Army appearing at the exhibition such as: Military Industry-Telecoms Group (Viettel), Saigon Newport Corporation, Vietnam Helicopter Corporation (Army Corps 18)...

“Having witnessed the great achievements of the Vietnam People’s Army in labor and production, I really admire the will and determination of Uncle Ho’s soldiers. They are not only good at protecting the sovereignty of the territory, sea and airspace of the Fatherland, but also very good at economic production,” said Nguyen Thuy Linh (born in 1996, from Nghe An).

Historical Marks and Aspirations for a New Era

In the history of building and defending the country, the army during the feudal period established the tradition of “ngu binh u nong”, soldiers participating in agricultural production. Inheriting that fine tradition, the Vietnam People's Army has actively participated in labor production since its early days, together with the people, created material potential to serve the long-term resistance wars for independence, freedom and national unification. President Ho Chi Minh taught that: The People's Army must be built strong to perform 3 functions: a fighting army, a working army and a production labor army. His advice has become a guideline and motto for action for the Vietnam People's Army.

After the Dien Bien Phu Victory, tens of thousands of cadres and soldiers moved from the combat army to economic construction and development. In particular, in 1956, 80,000 cadres and soldiers moved to land reclamation, irrigation, road construction, and factory construction. Also in 1956, the Farmer-Soldier Department was established and within two years, 29 military farms and forestry farms were established. This was also the time when key projects such as the Bac Hung Hai Irrigation Plant began to affirm the hand and mind of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the country's construction.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the images of the legendary Truong Son roads, the 5,000km long oil pipelines or the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea became symbols of the indomitable will and extraordinary creativity of Uncle Ho's soldiers. In the great rear area of the North, the soldiers worked day and night to build industrial and transportation works, while providing human and material support to the great front line in the South.

After 1975, when the country was reunited, 280,000 cadres and soldiers continued to leave the training ground and join the new front - the front of building, developing the economy, and rebuilding the country after the war. The green uniform of Uncle Ho's soldiers was present on all large and small projects, from restoring the Thong Nhat railway, building the Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant, Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant, to the 500kV North-South power line...

Visitors were very interested in the helicopter of the 18th Corps.

In the period of renovation, the production labor force has undergone a strong transformation along with the transformation of the country. A series of enterprises and economic groups of the Army were born and developed, with many strong brands, affirming their prestige both domestically and internationally. From mainly using human power, now, the production labor force of Uncle Ho's Army has applied leading advanced science and technology. Many defense economic zones have been established, becoming bright spots in strategic areas, both developing the socio-economy and consolidating the fence of the Fatherland. At the same time, the movement to increase production in army units has been maintained, contributing to ensuring the lives of officers and soldiers.

With the achievements fully reproduced at the exhibition space of the Ministry of National Defense, the production labor force has continued to affirm its long-term political mission: Closely combining national defense with economy, economy with national defense is the right strategy to firmly protect the Fatherland, while building a strong, prosperous, and civilized Vietnam.
