Military Region 9 dispatched troops to search for and collect martyrs' remains in Cambodia in the 2025-2026 dry season.

On October 28, the Steering Committee for the search, collection and identification of martyrs' remains (Steering Committee 515) of Military Region 9 held a departure ceremony, assigning tasks to teams to search for and collect the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia in the 2025-2026 dry season.

Attending the ceremony were Major General Cao Xuan Thang, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Policy, Director of the Military Social Insurance, Deputy Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Major General Huynh Van Ngon, Deputy Political Commissar, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 9; along with representatives of central departments, branches, local leaders and the Steering Committee 515 of the two provinces of An Giang and Dong Thap.

According to the plan, during the dry season of 2025 - 2026, 4 collection teams, including: K90 ( Political Department of Military Region 9), K91 (Military Command of Dong Thap province) and K92, K93 (Military Command of An Giang province) will search for and collect about 365 martyrs' remains in 10 provinces and cities of Cambodia.

Of which, Team K90 is in charge of Kandal and Kampong Chhnang provinces; Team K91 operates in Pray Veng and Pua Sat; Team K92 in Kam Pot, Koh Kong, Kep and Preah Sihanouk; Team K93 in Ta Keo and Kampong Speu.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Huynh Van Ngon said that over the past 24 years, Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 9 has collected more than 3,000 remains of martyrs in the country and more than 8,000 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia.

He praised the spirit, efforts, will and high political determination of the officers and soldiers of Team K through the periods. At the same time, he requested the task force to continue promoting the tradition of Uncle Ho's soldiers, maintain solidarity, closely coordinate with the Cambodian government and people, and ensure absolute safety during the performance of their duties.

Along with that, strengthen cooperation, exchange information, closely coordinate with Cambodian agencies, authorities and military forces; respect customs and practices of the neighboring country, contributing to strengthening the friendly relationship and solidarity between the two peoples of Vietnam and Cambodia.

On this occasion, the National Steering Committee 515, the Military Region Steering Committee 515 and the provinces of An Giang, Dong Thap and many businesses gave gifts to encourage the K Teams before they set off on their missions.
