( Bqp.vn ) – On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), on the morning of December 14, at Ba Dinh Square, the Central Military Commission - Ministry of National Defense held a ceremony to report achievements to Uncle Ho. General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense chaired the ceremony.

Over the past 80 years, under the absolute and direct leadership in all aspects of the Party; his education and training; the love, care and support of the people; inheriting and promoting the patriotism and military art of the Vietnamese people, overcoming countless hardships, challenges and sacrifices, the Vietnam People's Army, together with the entire Party and people, has achieved great victories in the cause of national liberation, building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam and fulfilling its glorious international obligations. From the first victories of Phai Khat and Na Ngan to the Viet Bac Campaign in 1947, the Border Campaign in 1950, the 1953-1954 Winter-Spring strategic offensive, culminating in the decisive strategic battle of Dien Bien Phu "famous in five continents, shaking the earth", our army and people smashed the domination of French colonialism, brought the North to socialism, and created a solid rear base to carry out the people's national democratic revolution in the South. During the resistance war against the US, from the victories of Ap Bac, Binh Gia, Dong Xoai, Ba Gia, Nui Thanh, Van Tuong, Pleime, the General Offensive and Uprising of Tet Mau Than 1968, "Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu in the air" in 1972, to the General Offensive and Uprising of Spring 1975, culminating in the historic Ho Chi Minh Campaign, our army and people completely liberated the South, reunified the country, and led the whole country to socialism. After the country's reunification, the Vietnam People's Army continued to win victories in the battles to protect the border and fulfill its international duties.

In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, the Army has always been the core force, together with the entire people, maintaining the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland; protecting the Party, the State, the People, protecting the socialist regime; excellently fulfilling the functions of "fighting army", "working army" and "production labor army". In any conditions and circumstances, officers and soldiers in the entire army are always steadfast, steadfast, united, unified, overcoming difficulties, ready to receive and complete well all tasks. Notably, they regularly and effectively advise the Party and the State on military and national defense; firmly grasp and accurately forecast the situation, promptly and effectively handle situations, avoiding being passive or surprised. The overall quality, strength, level and combat readiness of the Army have been improved; promoting the core role in building the all-people national defense, building an increasingly solid "people's heart position". Training, drills, competitions, and sports events have achieved many outstanding results; the organization of the basic force has been adjusted to be lean, compact, and strong; the construction of discipline, compliance with discipline, and the building of Party organizations at all levels have achieved positive results. International integration and defense diplomacy have been proactive, flexible, and effective. Logistics, engineering, defense industry, finance, planning, investment, scientific research, legislation, judiciary, cryptography, application of information technology, and digital transformation have achieved many important results.

With the spirit of “forgetting oneself for the people”, “the army proactively comes to the people, not letting the people in difficulty have to come to the army”, the officers and soldiers of the entire army have not been afraid of difficulties, hardships, and sacrifices, always being the core, shock force, taking the lead in the work of preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, epidemics, searching and rescuing, and overcoming the consequences of war; promptly present in vulnerable and dangerous places to protect the lives and property of the people, worthy of being one of the solid “supports” of the people. Along with that, effectively implementing socio-economic development programs, building defense economic zones and projects of strategic significance to the country. Effectively implement mass mobilization work, policies, gratitude, new rural construction, support programs to build "Great Unity Houses", "Comrades' Houses", participate in eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide... thereby continuing to deepen the good traditions and close relationship between the Army and the People.

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the Army was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Order, a noble award, which is the recognition of the Party, State and People for the great and especially outstanding contributions of the Vietnam People's Army in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have led and directed the entire army to organize many exciting, practical and effective activities, such as: Organizing well the peak emulation campaign "Proud of tradition - Continuing the feats - Worthy of the name of Uncle Ho's soldiers"; Contest to learn about the tradition "80th anniversary of the founding of the Army and 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day"; Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024; National scientific conference; International military music exchange; meeting; "Marching to the source", "Repaying gratitude"...; and on the morning of December 20, the Party and State will solemnly organize the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day at the National Convention Center in Hanoi.

Before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh, all cadres and soldiers of the entire army promise to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, the Party, the State and the People; to firmly adhere to the goals, ideals and path to socialism that the Party, Uncle Ho and the People have chosen.
