Quang Ngai invests 900 billion VND in park to eliminate "suspended" project area

Quang Ngai City People's Council has just approved the investment policy for the Thach Bich Green Park project (Quang Ngai City) with a total investment of about 900 billion VND.

The project uses targeted support from the Quang Ngai provincial budget, with the Quang Ngai City Land Fund Development and Investment Project Management Board as the investor, with implementation period 2025-2028.

Thach Bich Green Park has a construction scale of about 8.1 hectares.

The total land use area of ​​the project is about 8.1 hectares; with boundaries: the east borders the existing residential area, the west borders Ngo Thi Nham street, the south borders Hai Ba Trung street and the north borders the service road along Ton Duc Thang street.

The project's investment items include: flower gardens, green trees; outdoor event organization area; water square area; children's playground; Phan Boi Chau street (extended) and a number of other essential infrastructure items.

This is a multi-purpose project, in which the first plan to be implemented is to relocate and resettle all households in the "suspended" project area of ​​Zone II of the Dike to a new place to stabilize their lives.

All residents in the project area will be relocated and resettled.

Then, Phan Boi Chau Street will be extended to the service road at the intersection with Ton Duc Thang Street and invested in building green parks and public works on the cleared area. The goal is to create public space, serve the people and beautify the city.

The People's Council of Quang Ngai City requested the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City to assign the investor to implement the project and direct the investor to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to complete the project feasibility study report and submit it to the competent authority for investment decision in accordance with regulations.

When implemented, the Thach Bich Green Park project will “eradicate” the “suspended” project area of ​​​​District II of the Dike – where hundreds of households have been living in a situation of “not being able to go, not being able to stay” for many years. The houses are dilapidated, degraded and the living conditions are extremely difficult… making people angry.

Houses of people in the "suspended" project area are seriously degraded.

According to research, in this area, in 1997, the Prime Minister approved the Planning of the Quang Ngai Town Dike Project. In 2008, the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee approved the planning of the Provincial Administrative Center, and in 2012, it was adjusted to the Provincial Political - Administrative Center.

By 2015, the New Urban Area project serving resettlement of Zone II of the Dike was approved by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province with a total investment of 273,658 billion VND; the total recovered land area was 15.39 hectares with 560 households and organizations affected.

The project is divided into two phases, phase I covers an area of ​​7.96 hectares; phase II covers 7.43 hectares. Phase I of the project has been completed, but phase II has been delayed for many years.

In 2021, Quang Ngai province agreed on the policy of implementing the Thach Bich Green Park project in this area, combining the extension of Phan Boi Chau Street by 270 m and relocating all households to the resettlement area.

At the same time, direct the People's Committee of Quang Ngai City to promptly assign specialized agencies to organize the preparation, submission for appraisal and approval of the detailed project plan, as a basis for implementing the next steps.

Next, on November 27, 2023, Quang Ngai provincial leaders directly dialogued and directed the resolution of problems and concerns of people in the project area of ​​​​Dike Zone II.

Also here, the leaders of Quang Ngai province pledged to direct the People's Committee of Quang Ngai city and the departments and branches of the province to quickly coordinate to completely resolve the people's wishes for many years. The People's Committee of the province will allocate the budget for the People's Committee of Quang Ngai city to implement the project, starting from 2024.
