Quang Ngai reviews and builds schools for border communes
After the merger, the entire Quang Ngai province has 96 commune-level administrative units, including 9 border communes bordering Laos and Cambodia: Po Y, Ia Toi, Dak Plo, Mo Rai, Duc Nong, Sa Loong, Dak Long, Ro Koi and Ia Dal.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai province, these are communes with rugged terrain, difficult transportation, sparse population, mainly ethnic minorities such as Xo Dang, Bahnar, Gie Trieng... Socio -economic conditions between regions are still large, especially in border communes. The poverty rate is still high, educational infrastructure is not uniform, there is a lack of schools, especially boarding schools for ethnic minority students.
Faced with this reality, Quang Ngai province has identified investment in building boarding schools for ethnic minorities in border communes as an urgent requirement. This is not only a solution to ensure the right to education for students but also contributes to retaining residents, protecting border security and sustainably developing mountainous and border areas of Quang Ngai province.
Implementing the Politburo 's direction on investing in completing the construction of schools for border communes, Quang Ngai province has reviewed the current situation and urgent needs in 9 border communes. Thereby, the province proposed to allocate about 935 billion VND to invest in building and completing facilities for general schools in 9 border communes, aiming to meet the standards of ethnic boarding schools.
The expected capital sources include: 514 billion VND from the central budget, 326 billion VND from the local budget and about 94 billion VND from other legally mobilized sources. This proposal aims to concretize the direction of the Politburo, ensuring that the projects are completed before the 2025-2026 school year.
The province is currently developing a specific plan and roadmap, assigning tasks to departments, branches and localities for implementation. In particular, localities are required to proactively review and adjust planning, arrange suitable land funds for school construction; at the same time, ensure technical infrastructure conditions such as electricity, clean water, wastewater treatment, traffic, etc.
The province is also studying the implementation mechanism, mobilizing armed forces, union members, and local youth to participate in building and renovating schools; ensuring the progress and quality of the project. In particular, there will be an effective post-investment exploitation plan for schools in border areas.
