Accordingly, after the Geneva Agreement was signed in 1954, Lao right-wing reactionaries increased their provocative activities, causing border disputes in the area of ​​Huong Lap commune (Vinh Linh district, Quang Tri province).

On June 1, 1955, our forces arrived at Cu Bai village in Huong Lap commune and planted the national flag at the border junction with Laos and the temporary border between the North and South, marking the presence of border protection forces and the temporary border in the western area of ​​Vinh Linh. This was the milestone of the establishment of Armed Police Station No. 15, the predecessor of Huong Lap Border Guard Station.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, the unit achieved many outstanding feats. Notably, it coordinated with local forces to organize more than 30 ambushes, hunted down and destroyed 28 commandos, captured 12 spies... seized many machines, vehicles, important documents, and shot down 8 enemy planes. Coordinated with Pathet Lao forces to grasp the situation, build bases, fight and participate in many battles.

Colonel Tran Xuan Lan, Deputy Commander of Quang Tri Provincial Border Guard, delivered a congratulatory speech at the ceremony.

After the liberation of the homeland and the country, as well as entering the period of renovation, the officers and soldiers of the unit have always performed well the assigned functions and tasks. In their work, the station has always performed well the role of a specialized and core force in border protection. At the same time, they have actively participated in preventing, combating, and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, epidemics, and rescue; coordinating with the Lao border protection force to build a safe, peaceful , friendly, cooperative border area for mutual development.  

Colonel Tran Xuan Lan presented the Certificate of Merit from the Minister of National Defense to Huong Lap Border Post.

Along with that, doing a good job of advising local Party committees and authorities to closely combine socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security; building a solid "people's heart position" and "people's border defense".
