Quang Tri withdraws request for central government rice support to relieve hunger during Tet holiday

On January 24, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam confirmed that the Provincial People's Committee had issued a document withdrawing the request for rice support for local people on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024.

Previously, on January 15, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document requesting the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to consider submitting to the Prime Minister to provide 991.5 tons of rice to support 13,634 households (66,102 people) under social protection, poor households of ethnic minorities, and mountainous areas facing difficulties during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin - 2024.

However, on January 16, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document withdrawing the request to support the above amount of rice.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam said that after reviewing the funding sources, the province can balance its resources to ensure people's lives during the Lunar New Year. Therefore, the Provincial People's Committee withdraws the request for rice support from the Government . After having an official list of households needing rice support during the Tet holiday, the Provincial People's Committee will arrange the provincial budget to implement it. The province ensures that no one goes hungry.
