After more than two decades of absence, the Honda Prelude has officially returned to the market with an all-new 2026 version - a sports coupe with modern style and advanced hybrid technology. First appearing as a concept at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the 2026 Honda Prelude retains most of the design lines from the original. The car applies the “Unlimited Glide” design philosophy, simulating the flexibility of a roller coaster, with a low front end.
The 2026 Honda Prelude's bodywork features aerodynamic embossing, flat door handles, wing-shaped LED lights, and blue accents – a nod to the hybrid powertrain. The interior is finished in a blue-white colour scheme, with embroidered Prelude logos and premium soft-touch materials. The liftback design allows for increased storage space, with 60:40 split-folding seats and a sub-floor luggage compartment. The 2026 Prelude uses a new generation e:HEV powertrain, including a 2.0L engine combined with two electric motors, for a combined capacity of 183 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque.
Mated to the engine is an 8-speed e-CVT transmission via the Honda S+ Shift system. The vehicle integrates Active Sound Control (ASC) and various driving modes, including: Comfort, Sport, GT and Individual. The chassis system is shared from the Civic Type R, with dual-axis strut front suspension, adaptive shock absorbers, Brembo brakes and 19-inch wheels with noise reduction technology. Honda Sensing is standard equipment, including adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, collision mitigation braking support and traffic jam assist. The price of the 2026 Honda Prelude starts at 6,179,800 yen (equivalent to about 41,600 USD - about more than 1 billion VND).
In Japan, Honda also launched the Prelude ON Limited Edition and offered the option to experience the car through a short-term rental service. The car is produced in a limited quantity of about 300 cars per month. Video : Introducing the new 2026 Honda Prelude sports car.
