Nguyen Trung Truc Shrine

This is the shrine dedicated to the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc, famous for his immortal saying: "Only when the Westerners have uprooted all the grass in Vietnam will the Vietnamese stop fighting the Westerners." To commemorate his contributions and heroic spirit, the local people erected a temple in his honor. Every year, his death anniversary is celebrated from the 26th to the 28th of August in the lunar calendar, attracting millions of pilgrims and becoming one of the largest festivals in the Mekong Delta.

Located on Su Thien An Street, Tam Bao Pagoda is an ancient temple with a history spanning hundreds of years. The pagoda is not only a spiritual place but also a revolutionary historical site, having once served as a hiding place for weapons and documents for the 1940 Southern Uprising. Legend says the pagoda was once granted the title "Sac Tu Tam Bao Tu" (Imperial Decree Tam Bao Pagoda) by King Gia Long; however, this precious decree was lost during the resistance war.
