Serious landslide at Nong Tien ward quarry

- On May 13, at the quarry of Thien Son Tuyen Quang Company Limited in Group 10, Nong Tien Ward (Tuyen Quang City), a landslide occurred in the area under management and exploitation. The collapse did not cause any human casualties but buried a number of vehicles and machinery serving the exploitation.

At the scene, a large amount of rock and soil collapsed at the foot of the mountain, burying two excavators, one of which was completely buried. Many people living near the area said that the quarry landslide occurred at around 4:30 this morning. Many people were sleeping when they were awakened by a loud noise. They ran outside and discovered a large amount of rock and soil falling from the mountain. Fortunately, it was not mining hours so there were no casualties.

The cause of the landslide is currently being investigated by the authorities. Thien Son Company Limited is also repairing the incident and damage caused by the landslide.

Previously, on May 7, at the quarry of Binh Ca Construction Materials Exploitation and Production Cooperative (Yen Son district) and Son Hai Group, an accident occurred, killing one worker.

Faced with the risk of landslides and work accidents in the mining sector, authorities and management units need to strengthen inspection and supervision to ensure safety in mining activities and avoid unfortunate accidents.
