Born in 1986, graduated with a PhD in France, has "huge" achievements

Ms. Tran Minh Phuong is the youngest female Associate Professor in Mathematics in 2024. The female lecturer is currently working at Ton Duc Thang University (HCMC).

The Chairman of the State Council of Professors has just signed a decision to recognize the qualifications for the title of Professor and Associate Professor in 2024 for 614 candidates, including 45 Professors and 569 Associate Professors.

In the Mathematics Professorship Council, there are 28 new Professors and Associate Professors. The youngest female Associate Professor in Mathematics is Ms. Tran Minh Phuong, working at Ton Duc Thang University.

Ms. Tran Minh Phuong was born in 1986, hometown Quy Nhon city, Binh Dinh province.

In 2008, Ms. Tran Minh Phuong graduated from university with a degree in Mathematics, majoring in Mathematics Education at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

She received her Master's degree in Mathematics, specializing in Applied Mathematics, from the University of Orléans (France) in 2010.

After graduating with a master's degree in 2 years, Ms. Tran Minh Phuong continued to receive a doctorate in Mathematics, specializing in Applied Mathematics at the University of Orléans (France).

From October 2012 to October 2013, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Applied Mathematics, Paris Pedagogical School, France.

In January 2014, Ms. Tran Minh Phuong returned to Vietnam, worked at Ton Duc Thang University as a lecturer in the Faculty of Mathematics - Statistics and became a Grade III lecturer from April 2024. She is also the Head of the Applied Analysis Research Group of Ton Duc Thang University.

The youngest female Associate Professor of Mathematics in 2024 mainly researches on formal theory for some classes of partial differential equations; numerically solves partial differential equations and performs simulations in some applied problems; application of partial differential equations in digital image processing and restoration in medicine.

Ms. Tran Minh Phuong has published 43 scientific articles, including 32 articles in prestigious scientific journals, completed 1 ministerial-level scientific research project and 1 grassroots-level project. She has published 1 book with a prestigious publisher; has guided 3 HVCH/CK2/BSNT students to successfully defend their MSc/CK2/BSNT theses.

The new Associate Professor has been commended by the Ministry of Education and Training for 3 years (2017, 2019, 2020) for his mathematical work in the National Key Program for Mathematics Development in the period 2010-2020.

She continued to be awarded the First Prize by the Ministry of Education and Training for Outstanding Mathematics Work in 2023 under the National Key Program for Mathematics Development for the period 2021-2030.

This work by Ms. Tran Minh Phuong, as the author of the article published in the Journal of Functional Analysis, is one of the five works that won the First Prize in 2023. This is a research work on level set inequality applied to the formal theory of partial differential equations. This inequality can also be solved for many different classes of partial differential equations.

In the application for the title of Associate Professor in 2024, Ms. Tran Minh Phuong said: "I always continuously study and practice to improve my professional capacity, in order to meet the requirements of the assigned tasks. I completed my teaching work at the undergraduate and graduate levels, actively participated in scientific research activities and guided students to carry out student scientific research topics, guided graduate students to conduct and successfully defend their master's theses.

In addition, I also participate in chairing scientific and technological tasks; participate in building undergraduate and postgraduate training programs at the unit; always complete well the assigned tasks at the agency where I work."
