Phu Tho Department of Information and Communications celebrates 20 years of establishment and receives Second Class Labor Medal

Authorized bythe President , Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang awarded the Second Class Labor Medal to the Department of Information and Communications.

Attending the meeting were comrades: Bui Van Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Vi Manh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of the Ministry of Information and Communications ; leaders of departments, branches, districts, cities and towns of the province; postal and telecommunications enterprises, central and local press agencies and many generations of leaders, cadres and employees of the Department of Information and Communications through the periods.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang acknowledged and praised the contributions of generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants and public employees of the Phu Tho Information and Communications sector over the past 20 years. He affirmed: Over the past 20 years, regardless of the stage, generations of cadres, civil servants and public employees of the Department of Information and Communications have always been united, steadfast in their development goals, constantly innovated, and made efforts to overcome difficulties; strictly implemented the guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and the State; closely followed the reality and development trends of information technology; closely coordinated with departments, branches and localities to effectively perform assigned functions and tasks; actively contributed to the achievements in socio -economic development and ensured national defense and security of the province.

With the difficulties and challenges ahead, the new requirements posed by the reality of the country and the province entering a new development period with opportunities, advantages, difficulties and challenges intertwined, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang suggested that the Department of Information and Communications should continue to promote the achievements, constantly innovate, unite closely, create new strength to perform well in all aspects of work. Continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the direction of the Central Government, the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the province; proactively propose mechanisms and policies for the development of the information and communications sector, especially promoting digital transformation associated with ensuring security and safety. The Department of Information and Communications must promote its core and pioneering role in advising and promoting the province's digital transformation. Determine the development of digital government to lead the way to promote the development of the digital economy and digital society.

At the same time, create favorable conditions for the development of telecommunications infrastructure, digital infrastructure and accompanying utilities, serving digital transformation, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security; focusing on information security, safety, and user data protection. Strengthen state management of information - communication, press, and publishing; promptly, fully, accurately, and objectively reflect the political situation and socio-economic life; repel negative information, spread positive energy, create consensus and social trust. Along with that, focus on implementing well the requirements on perfecting the organizational apparatus; focus on training, fostering, improving professional qualifications, skills, awareness, and sense of responsibility for the team of cadres and civil servants, meeting the requirements of tasks in the new situation.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang requested the Party Committee, the government, agencies, units of the province and telecommunications enterprises to continue to pay attention, coordinate, support and create favorable conditions for the Department of Information and Communications to effectively perform assigned tasks, especially in implementing the province's digital transformation. He believes that, with the spirit of solidarity, creativity, innovation and with the foundations built over the past 20 years; the collective leadership, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Department of Information and Communications will continue to strive further, be strong in all aspects, excellently complete assigned tasks, and contribute more positively to the overall development of the province.

On December 24, 2004, the Phu Tho Department of Posts and Telecommunications, now the Department of Information and Communications, was officially established. With its initial functions and tasks as a specialized agency advising on State management in the fields of posts, telecommunications, and information technology, the Department of Information and Communications has now become a multi-disciplinary management department, performing the function of State management in the fields of press; publishing, printing and distribution; radio and television; electronic information; foreign information, grassroots information; post; telecommunications; radio frequencies; information technology industry; network information security; electronic transactions; digital transformation, becoming the main, pioneering agency, holding the responsibility and core role in the digital transformation in the province and managing press and communication activities.

Over 20 years of construction and development, the collective leadership, cadres, civil servants and public employees of the Department of Information and Communications have been united, made efforts, have a high sense of responsibility and determination to successfully and excellently complete all assigned tasks; gradually affirming the role and position of the industry, actively contributing to the achievements of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the province.

The Department has done a good job of advising, building mechanisms and policies to promote digital transformation of the province, including: Digital government, digital economy, digital society and digital media; creating momentum for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the province.

The work of building digital government has been directed and implemented effectively from the provincial to the communal level. The management and operation of the government at all levels are basically carried out in the electronic environment; 100% of eligible administrative procedures are provided online. The basic systems implementing digital transformation are maintained to ensure timely and effective connection and data sharing. Network safety and security are ensured.

Digital economic development has achieved remarkable initial results. The proportion of digital economy reached 12.5%, ranking 10th in the country; digital citizens and digital society have been deployed and developed. Telecommunications infrastructure, digital infrastructure, especially in remote areas, ethnic minority areas and particularly disadvantaged areas in the province, have developed strongly. Communication is ensured to be stable, serving the direction and administration of authorities at all levels and meeting the needs of people and businesses. In 2023, Phu Tho will rank 6th out of 63 provinces and cities in digital infrastructure development nationwide.

State management of information and press has been strengthened, performing well the tasks of providing official information; communicating policies; promoting foreign information about the province; fighting and refuting bad and toxic information; orienting and creating high consensus among the people and ensuring a healthy information environment, serving the political tasks of the province; contributing to promoting the image, people, potential and development strengths of the province.

The achievements of the Information and Communications sector have significantly contributed to the modernization of the administrative system, improving the capacity assessment indicators of state agencies; significantly contributing to the implementation of the province's breakthrough in strongly improving the investment and business environment. With these achievements, the Department of Information and Communications was honored to receive the Third Class Labor Medal from the President in 2014, Second Class in 2023; the Emulation Flag and Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister; the Hung Vuong Medal and many Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee; and the Emulation Flag, Certificate of Merit and many other noble awards from the Ministry of Information and Communications for many consecutive years.
