Ever since the design was still on paper, the bridge has been compared by Italian television as a cultural exchange between Vietnam and Italy. Not only because this work was designed by architect Marco Casamonti - Italian Design Ambassador in Vietnam, but also because the bridge contains many cultural codes of the two countries. The "father" of the bridge, Mr. Marco Casamonti once shared that the design inspiration for the Kissing Bridge originated from the painting God created Adam (The Creation of Adam) by the Italian artist - Michelangelo and the bridge was woven by a flock of birds in the legend of Mr. Ngau and Mrs. Ngau of East Asian culture.

The bridge has a total length of 800m, with two branches North Wing and South Wing (North and South bridge branches) forming a unified entity but not touching but 30cm apart. According to the architects of Sun Group directly involved in the project, building the Kissing Bridge with two separate branches on the sea is a big problem and challenge. To make it easier to imagine, the Kissing Bridge has a capacity of more than 5,000 people, equal to the scale of a stadium, and cannot have a 1mm error to create a perfect bridge tip.

The distance between the two branches of the bridge is designed to fit a hug, a kiss, a friendly handshake. And in particular, this distance has been carefully calculated, so that on January 1st every year, the sunset in Phu Quoc will fall right between the two branches of the bridge, creating a magical moment for those who are lucky enough to come to the pearl island at this time. Therefore, the bridge is considered the most beautiful sunset viewing spot in the world, right from its inception.
