Implementing the Project "Mobilizing resources to support poor households with housing difficulties, phase 2021 - 2025", Yen Chau district aims to complete the support for 100% of poor households with housing difficulties by the end of 2025.
With the participation of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the community, by the end of the first quarter of 2024, the entire district had eliminated temporary houses for all more than 1,190 poor households, completing one year ahead of schedule. Of which, the entire district supported the construction of about 1,000 new houses and repaired more than 100 houses, with a total cost of more than 38 billion VND, from socialized funds, support from agencies and units and funds mobilized by families themselves through loans and organizations and individuals supporting with working days.
In 2024, supporting the construction and repair of new houses for poor and near-poor households is considered a top priority by districts and cities in Son La province. Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh - Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Mai Son district said that through screening, in 10 extremely difficult communes in the area, there are 1,039 temporary and dilapidated houses that need to be eliminated. With the determination to complete the target with the highest results, from the beginning of the year, Party committees and authorities from the district to the grassroots level have coordinated with the Fatherland Front and mass organizations to proactively and carefully review the response capacity and resources of each family to have a specific support plan. Along with that, the Fatherland Front at all levels also promoted propaganda work, mobilized maximum resources from organizations and individuals to support the "For the Poor" fund, supported funds and working days to help households with difficulties build houses. Mr. Vi Duc Tho - Chairman of the Son La Provincial Fatherland Front Committee said that at the beginning of the 2020-2025 term, through a review, there were 10,595 households with housing difficulties in the province that needed to be repaired and renovated. Most of these households are living in temporary houses, the main materials are mixed wood, thatch, bamboo, rattan... that have been used for many years, posing a risk of collapse, not ensuring long-term stability. In addition, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels continue to promote the call for agencies, departments, branches, organizations, businesses, and philanthropists to actively support the "For the Poor" Fund. Up to now, the whole province has supported over 8,400 households to eliminate temporary houses with a total budget of over 342 billion VND; 10/12 districts and cities have completed 100% of the elimination of temporary houses for poor households and households facing housing difficulties, while Thuan Chau and Mai Son districts need to continue to implement, with a total estimated budget of over 80 billion VND.
