On January 3, 2024, TASS reported that the Russian Defense Ministry said that Su-25 attack aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces attacked Ukrainian positions and personnel in the Donetsk region with unguided missiles (rockets) S-8. The targets were attacked from an extremely low altitude of 25 meters.
The Russian Defense Ministry stressed that all designated targets were successfully attacked.
“We were ordered to destroy a Ukrainian stronghold. We approached on time, hit the target, took the necessary actions to counter the missile, returned to the airfield and landed,” the Russian Defense Ministry quoted a pilot as saying.
Earlier, on January 2, the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that a platoon of Ukrainian Leopard-2A6 tanks was destroyed by Russia in the direction of Svatovsk. It is known that these tanks tried to attack Russian positions in the area of the village of Terny but were destroyed by the Western Group (Russia) with high-precision ammunition and also by Lancet suicide aircraft.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also released a video demonstrating the destruction of three Leopard-2A6 tanks equipped with the characteristic additional turret protection. These images were captured by a Russian reconnaissance drone.
In recent months, most of the Leopard tanks have been sent to the northern Donbass. These tanks have also been spotted participating in battles near Kremennaya.
Earlier, the head of the Ukrainian Situation Center in the Bundeswehr revealed that nearly half of the German Leopard 2 tanks delivered to Kiev have been decommissioned. The German Leopard 2 tanks are considered legendary. However, the legend of this tank has been shattered since Ukraine launched counterattacks a few months ago.
