"The online community is talking about this statue being made of wax. In fact, this is a 3D statue combining traditional Vietnamese handicrafts with composite materials. I made it to give to the family of the late Meritorious Artist Vu Linh, which will be placed at his grave in Binh Duong Flower Garden Cemetery on August 29, on the occasion of the family holding a vegetarian ceremony to pay respect to monks during the Vu Lan season" - artist Van Tong said.
The statue will be displayed for the public to see and burn incense in memory of the artist who made many contributions to the career of Vietnamese reformed theater arts, then moved to his private home and placed at the late artist's altar.
Artist Van Tong added that this was the first time he had tried to make a statue of an artist based on an image provided by his family. "I also intend to make another statue of the late People's Artist Thanh Tong and his family has agreed, but so far Meritorious Artist Que Tran has not sent any images to use as a basis for making the statue," said artist Van Tong.
