A 42-year-old bus driver was fined 7 million VND and had his driver's license revoked for 11 months for violating alcohol concentration while carrying 10 passengers on the Ho Chi Minh City - Dau Giay Expressway on the morning of March 5.
The passenger bus was stopped for inspection by the Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 (Team 6 - Traffic Police Department) at the entrance to the toll station in Thong Nhat district, while traveling from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City.

The police discovered that the driver had an alcohol concentration of 0.206 mg/liter of breath. He was fined 7 million VND, had his driver's license revoked for 11 months, and had his vehicle impounded for 7 days according to Decree 100. The driver explained that "he drank 5 cans of beer last night but subjectively did not think that he still had alcohol concentration this morning".
Lieutenant Colonel Hoang Xuan An, Team 6 leader, said that in the coming time, the force will increase inspections of drivers on the entire highway from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang. This is to prevent drivers from violating alcohol concentration and causing accidents.
During the recent Tet holiday, the Traffic Police Department fined 29,000 drivers for alcohol violations, an increase of nearly 280% compared to the previous year. In 2023, when the Traffic Police nationwide launched many peak campaigns to handle drivers under the influence of alcohol, there were 770,000 fines, this figure is more than the total of three consecutive years 2020-2022.
