According to Neowin , RRAuction has auctioned off the old Steve Jobs collectible with an initial estimate of over $25,000 for the check, meaning the final price is almost double the expected price. The check was issued by Wells Fargo Bank and dated July 23, 1976, about 3 months after Apple was founded, and it was made payable to Radio Shack for $4.01.

In the address field, the check mentions the location of the answering machine and mailing service that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak used at the time they operated out of the Jobs family garage.

1976 was also the year Apple released its first product: the Apple 1. It was a computer designed as a kit for end users to solder and assemble. But The Byte Shop owner Paul Terrell offered to buy 50 Apple 1s for $500 each if they were delivered as finished products.

Radio Shack played a key role in the duo’s history. The American retail chain was where Wozniak bought the TRS-80 Micro Computer System, which he used to create a “blue box” — a device that allowed users to make free long-distance calls by manually dialing a number. Jobs and Wozniak sold about 200 blue boxes for $150 each. It was a partnership that laid the foundation for the computer company that is now known as Apple Inc.

This is just one of two checks signed by Steve Jobs in 1976 that are up for auction. One thing they have in common is that both checks are signed by Jobs as “Steven Jobs.” It joins a list of Apple memorabilia that has been auctioned, including an original sealed 4GB iPhone, an 8GB iPhone that sold for $63,000, and an iPhone with a “Lucky You” sticker that sold for $40,320.
