Having the opportunity to return to Binh An Farm in mid-July, this place attracts hundreds of tourists to visit every day. Entering the melon garden grown in a closed greenhouse, visitors enjoy taking pictures next to rows of yellow-skinned, evenly ripe melons grown using high technology 4.0. In particular, grapes on the farm are also grown according to high-tech standards of Europe (EU) and meet organic standards of the United States (USDA). With a cultivated area of 100 hectares, in addition to the main agricultural products such as red-fleshed dragon fruit, grapes, and melons all of which are GlobalGAP certified, recently, the farm owner has also grown sweet passion fruit and renovated many playgrounds for children.
Mr. Duong Van Toan - Technical Director of the farm said that through media channels, recently, Binh An Farm has been visited by many domestic and international tourists. Tourists not only check-in, learn about international clean fruit growing techniques, but the best thing is that they can enjoy the bunches of grapes and sweet melons right in the garden when they have just been picked.
Not only Binh An Farm, Tan Thanh commune is also considered one of the largest dragon fruit growing areas in the province with a total dragon fruit area of over 2,800 hectares; of which, 40 groups are recognized for producing dragon fruit that meets VietGAP standards with an area of 1,776 hectares. In addition, the commune also has high-tech yellow-skinned dragon fruit farms in Hon Do and Tan Thuan areas. In particular, during the 2020-2025 term, the Tan Thanh Commune Party Committee has gradually oriented farmers to shift from traditional agriculture to focusing on applying high technology, improving productivity and saving costs in agriculture. At the same time, the locality has gradually combined experiential tourism and community tourism to diversify products, helping to increase people's income. In particular, the commune encourages people to develop agricultural production associated with production linkages according to the value chain, increasing competitiveness and ensuring stable output for products. Thereby, building a product supply chain according to OCOP standards creates products with productivity, quality, and high economic efficiency.
Regarding the goals for the coming term, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh - Vice Chairman of Tan Thanh Commune People's Committee said that the locality will promote the application of high-tech agricultural development in production, especially local advantageous crops (dragon fruit, melons, etc.), creating production links according to the value chain; building brands and labels for agricultural products, especially OCOP products.
The commune restructures the agricultural sector to ensure substance and efficiency, exploiting and promoting the potential and advantages of the locality. This is also one of the three breakthroughs that the Party Committee of Tan Thanh commune has proposed. In addition, the locality calls for the development of high-tech agricultural farms in Hon Do and Tan Thuan areas; continues to promote sustainable tourism development, diversifying community tourism products, experiential tourism, especially effectively exploiting the potential and advantages to make tourism a key economic sector of the commune.
