Strengthening Vietnam-China press cooperation in the digital age

On the afternoon of May 23, Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association in charge of the South, had a meeting and worked with the China National Journalists Association led by the Standing Vice President of the China National Journalists Association Liu Siyang. This activity is within the framework of the 3-day visit and working session in Vietnam of the China National Journalists Association.

Speaking at the reception, comrade Tran Trong Dung said that in recent times, the Vietnam Journalists Association and the China National Journalists Association have had many practical and effective cooperation activities. The visit of the China National Journalists Association delegation to Ho Chi Minh City this time contributes to promoting cooperation between press agencies, concretizing the joint statement between the two countries regarding cooperation between press, news and publishing agencies during the visit of General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam in April 2025.

Comrade Tran Trong Dung believes that through the exchange activities and experience sharing, the delegation will have a deeper insight into the economic , cultural and social development of Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the press activities of the City. Vietnam hopes to learn valuable experiences from Chinese colleagues in the field of press and media in the current context of digital transformation.

Discussing the cooperation plan, comrade Tran Trong Dung hoped that in the coming time, the two sides will coordinate to organize professional journalism exchange activities, seminars, online talks, and professional exchange courses to promote cooperation between press agencies.

On behalf of the delegation of the Chinese Journalists Association, Head of the delegation Liu Siyang sincerely thanked the Vietnam Journalists Association for their warm welcome and affection; and affirmed that visiting a number of Vietnamese press agencies helped the members of the delegation have a comprehensive view of the strongly developing press in Vietnam in general, Ho Chi Minh City in particular, as well as the situation of the Chinese community in Vietnam.

Agreeing with the proposal to strengthen cooperation, Comrade Liu Siyang said that through the exchange of delegations and the organization of professional exchanges, the two Associations will have many issues to learn from each other. Sharing about the development orientation, Comrade Liu Siyang recognized many profound similarities in the journalism between Vietnam and China. The China National Journalists Association is building a journalism development program at the request of General Secretary Xi Jinping. After a period of reform, new journalism models have been promoting their strengths in China.

In the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited and worked at Ho Chi Minh City Television Station.

Attending the reception were comrades: Nguyen Tho Truyen, Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee; Nguyen Tan Phong, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association; Ly Viet Trung, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Ho Chi Minh City Women's Newspaper; representatives of the Department of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, and the Department of Foreign Affairs. During the visit and working session, the two sides also shared their expertise and experience in journalism activities, journalism economic models, journalism reforms, etc. in the context of digital transformation and expressed their desire to strengthen cooperation and professional exchange, contributing to promoting the development of journalism in each country.

Earlier that morning, the delegation visited the Traditional House of the Chinese Revolution, the secret document printing bunker of the T4 Chinese Propaganda Department, and Nghia An Assembly Hall (Ong Pagoda).
