After 5 years of implementing Project No. 08-DA/TU dated March 27, 2020 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on gathering and uniting workers in Tay Ninh province for the period 2020-2025 (Project 08-DA/TU), the Associations at all levels in the province have promoted their role as a bridge, a reliable support for female workers, especially those living in boarding houses.

Go Dau District Women's Union gives Tet gifts to female workers.

Identifying this as one of the key political tasks, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Women's Union (VWU) has developed a specific plan and implemented it extensively throughout the Union system. From 2020 to present, the Union at all levels has established 28 female worker groups in the boarding house area, exceeding the target set by the Project by 380%. By the end of 2024, the province will maintain 38 female worker groups with 384 members and 4 female boarding house owners groups with 36 members.

Women workers' groups meet regularly 1-2 times per quarter, depending on actual conditions. The meetings are mainly held at the dormitory, on weekends or after work hours to facilitate women's participation.

The activities are diverse, from policy and law dissemination, sharing life skills to cultural exchange and physical training. This activity space has truly become a place for female workers to connect and share. Thanks to that, the spiritual life of women is improved, at the same time arousing the spirit of solidarity and mutual support in work and life.

Ms. Dang Thi Hong Tham, a worker at Gain Lucky Company and a member of the Women's Group in Phuoc Dong Commune's boarding house, shared: "Before, after work, everyone went back to their rooms, with little opportunity to chat or share anything with each other.

Since the establishment of the women's group in the boarding house, we have been able to meet, participate in activities, and participate in propaganda sessions about the law and life skills. Thanks to that, I know how to identify scams on the internet, and I also receive gifts on holidays and Tet. The most important thing is that I feel cared for and have someone to rely on when needed."

Caring for the lives of female workers has always been a regular concern of the Association at all levels. In the past 5 years, the Association has mobilized organizations to give away more than 2,500 gifts on holidays and Tet with a total value of nearly 1 billion VND, along with more than 3,000 other gifts worth more than 900 million VND. In addition, the Association also supports scholarships for workers' children and gives health insurance cards to help women feel secure in their work and production.

Female workers participate in the program of giving Ao Dai and sending love organized by the District Women's Union and Ben Cau District Labor Federation.

During the complicated Covid-19 pandemic, the role of the Women Workers' Union has been increasingly promoted. The Union at all levels has mobilized 803 landlords to exempt or reduce rent for female workers with a total amount of over 600 million VND. More than 1,000 essential gifts have also been delivered to female workers. Zalo groups have been established, becoming a fast and effective information channel about the epidemic situation and support policies, helping workers access them promptly and accurately.

In addition, the Women Workers’ Groups also contribute to maintaining security and order in the boarding houses. Through the “Linking Key” model, the women have provided the police with 52 valuable sources of information related to crimes such as drugs, gambling, and fraud, contributing to ensuring safety in the residential community.

Ms. Dang Thi Lien, a female landlord in Phuoc Dong commune, Go Dau district, said: “Since joining the female landlord group, I have a better understanding of my rights and responsibilities. Through the meetings, the Women's Union has guided me on how to propagate and mobilize tenants to live civilly, maintain security and order, and join hands to support female workers when they encounter difficulties.”

Not only taking care of material and spiritual life, the Association also focuses on developing members and introducing party members. Through its activities, 27 outstanding female workers have been introduced to the Party for consideration, of which 3 have been admitted. This is proof that the Association is not only a practical support but also an environment for women to practice and mature politically and cognitively.

In addition to the positive results, the activities of the women workers' groups also face many difficulties due to the nature of the workers' work, which often requires overtime and changes of residence, affecting the maintenance of regular activities. However, with the persistent and responsible support of the Association at all levels, this model is still showing clear effectiveness in gathering and uniting female workers, an important force in the process of developing industrial urban areas.

Vice President of the Provincial Women's Union Kim Thi Minh said: "The Union will continue to expand and improve the quality of models of female workers' groups and female landlords' groups; focus on training the core force of prestigious female workers, and coordinate with functional sectors to protect the legitimate and legal rights and interests of female workers, contributing to building harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations."

From simple rented rooms, the model of women workers' groups in Tay Ninh has spread the spirit of solidarity, sharing and proactively striving to improve in life. These are also the "sweet fruits" from the concretization of Project 08-DA/TU, demonstrating the role and mark of the Association in accompanying female workers, who are day and night contributing to building the homeland of Tay Ninh to develop sustainably.
