Focus on inspection and detection of fake milk and fake health foods

The Ministry of Health has sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and provincial People's Committees on strengthening food safety management and preventing fake food.

Recently, the production and trade of fake food has become more complicated, with the production and trade of fake milk, fake MSG, fake cooking oil, fake health food, etc. emerging, causing public confusion. In the face of this situation, the Ministry of Health continues to request a focus on inspection and testing of the above items.

On May 6, the Ministry of Health informed that it had sent a document to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the People's Committees of provinces and cities on strengthening food safety management and preventing fake food.

The Ministry of Health - Standing Committee of the Central Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety requested members of the Central Inter-sectoral Steering Committee on Food Safety and People's Committees of provinces/cities to strengthen market management, inspection and examination of food products on the market, focusing on detecting ingredients of unknown origin, fake food, fake milk, fake health protection food, poor quality food, food that has not yet carried out self-declaration/registered declaration procedures on the market in order to promptly detect, prevent and strictly handle violations.

Relevant units shall strengthen the review and handling of violations of food advertising on the Internet or other mass media in accordance with the law; strengthen information and propaganda of legal regulations on food safety to raise consumer awareness in choosing, purchasing and using food products.

The Ministry of Health also requested relevant units to review regulations on ensuring food safety for food products, especially for dairy products, nutritional products, and functional foods; proactively amend or propose competent authorities to amend current regulations if necessary to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of food safety management./.
