Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao docks at Kure port, begins diplomatic visit to Japan

Continuing the journey to visit China, Japan and South Korea, on the morning of December 7, Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao of Brigade 162, Naval Region 4 and the working delegation arrived at Kure port, Hiroshima province, beginning a visit to Japan.

Colonel Yanagihara, representing Kure Naval Base – one of the largest bases of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, presided over the welcoming ceremony for the delegation and officers and sailors of Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao at the wharf. Also present was Colonel Nguyen Thai Son, Vietnam Defense Attaché in Japan.

Speaking at the welcoming ceremony, Colonel Yanagihara welcomed the Vietnam People's Navy delegation and Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao to visit Japan; expressed hope that through the exchange and contact activities within the framework of the visit, it will contribute to further developing the friendly cooperation between the two navies and the Vietnam-Japan relationship.

Colonel Nguyen Vinh Nam expressed his honor to lead the Vietnamese Navy delegation and Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao to visit the beautiful city of Kure; at the same time, he said that this trip encountered many difficulties due to the long journey at sea, in harsh weather conditions, but the officers and sailors of Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao showed their efforts and determination and arrived at Kure port safely, as planned.

The head of the delegation believes that the visit will help officers and sailors of the two navies understand more about each other's country, people and culture, and serve as a bridge connecting the good friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan, and the armed forces and navies of the two countries.

This is the second time Ship 015-Tran Hung Dao has paid a courtesy visit to Japan and the first time visiting Kure Naval Base.

The visit aims to concretize the Joint Vision Statement on Vietnam-Japan Defense Cooperation towards the next decade signed by the two countries' Defense Ministries in 2018, in line with the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the world; and at the same time, further strengthen the friendly cooperation, trust and mutual understanding between the two navies.
