TASS news agency reported on December 9 that the landing module of the Soyuz MS-27 manned spacecraft, carrying three astronauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Alexei Zubritsky (Russia) and Jonathan Kim (USA), successfully landed in Kazakhstan after completing its mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

The announcement stated: “Today, at 8:04 Moscow time, the landing module of the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft with cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Alexei Zubritsky and Jonathan Kim landed near the city of Zhezkazgan, Karaganda province.”

The Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft separated from the Prichal module of the Russian section of the ISS space station at 4:41 a.m. Moscow time and began maneuvers planned for the return flight.

The de-orbit burn began at 7:10 a.m. About half an hour later, the landing module separated from the spacecraft and entered the atmosphere. At 8:04 a.m. Moscow time, the module landed safely as previously planned.

After landing, ground support specialists were quickly present to help the crew open the hatch and leave the module.

According to the live footage, the two cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Jonathan Kim had a relatively good return flight, but cosmonaut Alexey Zubritsky had some difficulties and was immediately taken to a medical tent set up near the landing site.

The crew spent 245 days in orbit and performed two scheduled spacewalks. In addition, cosmonauts Ryzhikov and Zubritsky installed equipment on the outer surface of the ISS.

Currently, astronauts Zena Cardman and Edward Fincke of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), astronaut Yui Kimiya of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and astronaut Oleg Platonov of the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) continue to work on the ISS.

They arrived at the ISS on August 2 on the Crew Dragon spacecraft as part of the Crew-11 mission./.
