(Dan Tri Newspaper) - Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) won The Sentry 2025, a tournament that concluded on January 6th in the Hawaiian Islands (USA).
The Sentry is the first tournament of the new year on the PGA Tour (a prestigious series of golf tournaments for men, similar in nature to the Masters in tennis). Because it's a PGA Tour event, The Sentry attracts a host of top golfers from around the world .

After the final day of competition on the night of January 5th (Vietnam time), Hideki Matsuyama finished with a total score of -35 strokes, winning the championship.
Finishing second was former world number two Collin Morikawa (USA), with a total score of -32 strokes. Third place went to Im Sung Jae (South Korea), with a total score of -29 strokes.
Meanwhile, other strong golfers had little success at this year's tournament. World number two and 2020 Tokyo Olympic champion Xander Schauffele (USA) finished with a total score of -17 strokes, only tying for 30th place (tied for 30th).
Former world number one Justin Thomas (USA) finished with a total score of -19 strokes, placing him in a tie for 26th position. Meanwhile, former FedEx Cup playoff champion Patrick Cantlay (USA) finished with a total score of -21 strokes, placing him in a tie for 15th position.
Unfortunately, the world number one and reigning Olympic champion Scottie Scheffler (USA) is unable to participate in this year's tournament due to injury.
