The first shipment of agricultural products, carrying rice and rubber, departed on December 10 from Map Ta Phut station, Rayong province, and is expected to arrive in Chengdu, China on December 15, before continuing to Russia and Poland.

According to Thailand’s Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Thammanat Prompao, the trip on the new route will take only about five days, faster than the sea route. The Bangkok Post quoted information from Thai officials as saying that arrangements are being made to export fresh and dried longan next month.

This railway network, supported by the Thailand-Laos-China railway system, jointly operated by Global Multimodal Logistics (GML), Farmers' Market Organization (MOF) and Pan-Asia Silk Company (PAS), is expected to contribute to Thailand's economic growth by utilizing rail transport to export commodities such as rice, durian and rubber.

In addition, this initiative is expected to significantly increase the value of agricultural products, promote stable growth in Thailand's agricultural industry, optimize logistics efficiency, maintain product quality and be environmentally friendly.
