At the workshop, Ms. Vu Thi Huong, Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thanh Hoa province, said: “Implementing the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period of 2021-2025 and orientation to 2030 in Thanh Hoa province, authorities at all levels, departments, branches and sectors have implemented to ensure the quality and effectiveness of gender equality work according to their assigned management functions and tasks. As a result, gender equality work has had a strong change, 20 indicators belonging to 6 target groups according to the orientation of the National Strategy for the period of 2021-2030 have all been implemented to ensure the roadmap and plan set out”.

The report at the conference showed that in the political field, Thanh Hoa province has 417/1,194 state management agencies and local authorities at all levels with female key leaders, accounting for 35.52%, of which: 6/17 departments, branches and specialized sectors under the Provincial People's Committee have female key leaders; 19/54 district-level local government agencies have female key leaders, accounting for 35.2%; 398/1,118 commune-level local government agencies have female key leaders, accounting for 35.6%.
In the economic sector, there are 488,215 female wage workers from districts, towns and cities, accounting for 48.94% of the total wage workers in the province. The estimated proportion of female workers in the agricultural sector in the total number of employed female workers is 40.37%. In the first 6 months of 2023, 1,200 enterprises/cooperatives have female directors/business owners, accounting for 40%, an increase of 13% compared to 2020.

In family life and prevention and response to gender-based violence: The rate of people who are victims of domestic violence and gender-based violence who are detected and have access to at least one of the basic support services is 83%, an increase of 33% compared to 2020. The rate of people who have committed domestic violence and gender-based violence who have not been prosecuted and have received counseling and counselling is 83%, an increase of 13% compared to 2020. The rate of victims of human trafficking who have returned and are detected to be in need of support and have received support and reintegration services into the community is 100%. The rate of public social assistance facilities implementing activities to support, prevent and respond to gender-based violence is 50%, an increase of 35% compared to 2020.
In the health sector, in the first 6 months of the year, the sex ratio at birth (number of boys/100 live births) was 112.5/100, down 1.5 compared to 2021; the maternal mortality rate related to pregnancy/100,000 live births was 0/100,000; the adolescent birth rate/1,000 women was 27.29/1,000...

At the workshop, Dr. Bui Sy Loi, former Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Social Committee, informed about some key contents about the current situation and solutions in promoting gender equality in the political and economic fields.
The workshop aims to help delegates who are leaders of agencies, units and localities assess the current situation, propose solutions to promote positive aspects, overcome limitations and difficulties to narrow the gender gap in the political and economic fields in Thanh Hoa province; thereby making an important contribution to the implementation of the goals and targets according to the orientation of the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021-2025 and orientation to 2030 in Thanh Hoa province.
