On May 13th, the Binh Minh town police (Vinh Long province), in coordination with other professional units, investigated the case of a young man found dead by hanging under the Can Tho bridge (in My Hoa commune).
At around 6:00 AM that same day, residents discovered a young man hanging from a tree under the Can Tho bridge and raised the alarm. Upon receiving the report, the Binh Minh town police arrived at the scene. Initial verification identified the young man as LKP (24 years old, residing in Phong Dien district, Can Tho city).
According to locals, about two days ago, Mr. P. came to a cafe near the Can Tho bridge complaining and threatening to jump off the bridge to commit suicide, but was dissuaded. Mr. P. said he had run away from home and wanted to commit suicide because of "heartbreak."
Security cameras at a nearby coffee shop recorded Mr. P. walking past the shop at 5 a.m. that same day.
Ten years after the Can Tho bridge collapse, we had the opportunity to speak with the hero who rescued 11 victims in that horrific accident.
