Hai Duong City receives the First-Class Labor Medal.

At the ceremony, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, the Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee, Tran Duc Thang, presented the First-Class Labor Order to the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Duong city.

Mr. Le Dinh Long, Secretary of the Hai Duong City Party Committee, stated that this occasion is an opportunity to rekindle pride in the heroic fighting tradition of the people of Hai Duong City throughout its long history of formation and development. It is also an opportunity to look back on the difficult and arduous journeys and the glorious and heroic years in which generations of ancestors, the people of Thanh Dong in the past – now Hai Duong City – bravely fought and sacrificed to build and develop the city.

Reviewing the important historical milestones in the formation and development of Hai Duong city, Party Secretary Le Dinh Long said that, building on the achievements made in the construction and development process since its establishment, Hai Duong city became a type II urban area in 2009 and was recognized as a type I urban area in 2019.

Hai Duong City Party Secretary Le Dinh Long emphasized that the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Duong city will continue to uphold the heroic tradition, sense of responsibility, self-reliance, solidarity, dynamism, and creativity, striving to successfully implement socio -economic development tasks and build an increasingly prosperous city.

Over 70 years of struggle, construction, and development, the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Duong city have been awarded many prestigious honors by the Party and the State. In 2024, the city was awarded the First-Class Labor Medal by the President of Vietnam for its outstanding achievements in transforming Hai Duong into a Class I urban area, making a positive contribution to the socio-economic development of Hai Duong province and the country.

Speaking at the ceremony, Hai Duong Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang congratulated the Party Committee, government, and people of Hai Duong city on being awarded the First-Class Labor Order by the President of Vietnam.

Established in 1804, the ancient Thanh Dong - now Hai Duong city - is the heart of a land of outstanding people and rich history, a place where many famous figures were nurtured and gathered, the birthplace of heroes from the time of establishing national independence to staunch communists.

Emphasizing that Hai Duong city has a strategic location, a central role, and is an important driving force for the province's development, the Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee assessed that the Party Committee, government, and people of the city have united, worked together, overcome difficulties and challenges, and strived to achieve many important accomplishments.

Over a period of more than 20 years, from 1997 to 2019, Hai Duong city has been upgraded to an urban status three times; its administrative boundaries have been gradually expanded.

"It can be affirmed that the efforts, endeavors, and outstanding achievements of the Party Committee, government, and people of the city over the past 70 years are extremely important and a source of pride, creating momentum and a ripple effect contributing to the overall development of Hai Duong province," affirmed Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang.

Provincial Party Secretary Tran Duc Thang stated that Hai Duong is striving to become a modern industrial province by 2030, meeting some basic criteria of a centrally-governed city; and to become a centrally-governed city by 2050. In this context, Hai Duong city will continue to be identified as the core urban area, the central urban area, ensuring linkages and promoting development between urban areas in the province and the Hanoi capital region and the Red River Delta region.

To successfully achieve the set goals and tasks, the Secretary of the Hai Duong Provincial Party Committee requested that Party committees, government agencies, the Fatherland Front, political and social organizations, and cadres, Party members, and the people of Hai Duong city deeply understand the role and position of the city as the "locomotive," "nucleus," and "driving force" in the process of building and developing Hai Duong province.

Focus on building a strong and comprehensive Party organization and political system; strive to build and develop Hai Duong city into a green, smart, modern city with a developed urban economy, and fulfill the criteria of a Type I city. Prepare well for the successful organization of the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term.

The city of Hai Duong needs to focus on implementing the city's master plan, approved by the Prime Minister, in a coordinated manner to expand urban space, technical infrastructure systems, environmental landscape, and major centers.

Review and adjust the population size, land area, and technical infrastructure development orientation to align with the goals and solutions of Resolution No. 30-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the direction of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security for the development of the Red River Delta region until 2030, with a vision to 2045, and other national-level plans.

Focus on mobilizing maximum resources and investing in improving urban quality, while preserving and promoting the fine, friendly cultural traditions of the people of Thanh Dong, paying attention to developing housing for the people, especially housing for low-income earners. Further accelerate administrative reforms and attract investment; build Hai Duong city into a smart, modern, livable, and friendly city.
