Thanh Phu develops OCOP products in a sustainable direction

Delegates visited the 3-star OCOP peeled-crayfish production model of An Thanh Agricultural - Service Cooperative.

To date, the entire district has 47 products recognized as OCOP certified, of which 3 products have achieved 4 stars and 44 products have achieved 3 stars. Many outstanding products have been welcomed and favored by the market such as: clean rice, brown rice tea of Thanh Phu Rice - Shrimp Cooperative; four-season mango and sea crab of Thanh Phong Agricultural Service Cooperative, Thanh Phong commune; clams of Thanh Loi Aquatic Products Cooperative, Thanh Hai commune...

Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Environment Le Van Tien said that after the recognition, the entire political system of the district has taken drastic measures to promote the effectiveness and sustainable development of OCOP products. Communication and promotion work has been promoted on mass media. With the advantages and potential of the locality, a number of entities have promoted brands, trademarks, and consumed goods in the market through commercial channels, product introduction and promotion, etc.

Among the 22 subjects of OCOP products, in addition to enterprises and individual business households, there are also 6 subjects of cooperatives in the agricultural sector. Last year, cooperatives in the district paid attention to building and developing OCOP products associated with the local key agricultural value chain. In 2024 alone, the district recognized 3 new OCOP products of cooperatives, including: Coconut-skinned crayfish of An Thanh Agricultural - Service Cooperative; herbal chicken of Phu Nong Coconut Cooperative and brown rice tea of Thanh Phu Rice - Shrimp Cooperative. Up to now, the whole district has 11 OCOP products developed from cooperatives. In addition, the district has supported My An Agricultural Cooperative and Thanh Phu Rice - Shrimp Cooperative to build 2 points to introduce, display and sell local OCOP products.

An Thanh Agricultural - Service Cooperative was established in mid-2023 with a business line specializing in giant freshwater prawns such as farming, trading, shrimp farming services... According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Nam - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Cooperative, in 2024, the Cooperative agreed to choose the model of producing peeled giant freshwater prawns to register for OCOP product development. By October 2024, this product was recognized as achieving 3-star OCOP.

Head of the District Department of Agriculture and Environment Le Van Tien added that in the coming time, the district will continue to support entities participating in trade fairs, product displays and exhibitions in and outside the province or introducing products on e-commerce platforms. In addition to the two supported display points in My An and An Nhon communes, the district is expected to continue to support the Thanh Phu Organic Coconut Cooperative Union in Quoi Dien commune to introduce OCOP products, typical agricultural products of the district.
