900 more professors and associate professors to be recognized by 2025

(Dan Tri) - The State Council of Professors approved the profiles of 900 candidates for professor and associate professor. 11 candidates were dropped from the list of recognized standards despite being recommended by industry and interdisciplinary councils.

According to the results of the meeting and consideration of recognition of meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2025 by the State Council of Professors, the profiles of 900/911 candidates were approved. Of which, there were 71 professor candidates and 829 associate professor candidates.

There are 11 candidate profiles that were proposed by the councils of professors, associate professors, and interdisciplinary professors but were not approved by the State Council of Professors.

The passing rate compared to the total number of candidates submitting initial applications for consideration at the Basic Professor Councils this year is 83.88%.

Regarding the process, after receiving candidate profiles from the Industry and Interdisciplinary Professorial Councils, the Office of the State Professorial Council coordinated with the standing committees of the Industry and Interdisciplinary Professorial Councils to check and review the evidence of all candidate profiles, and report to the standing committee of the State Professorial Council before submitting them to the State Professorial Council for consideration and recognition.

The State Council of Professors has publicly discussed each candidate's profile, elected a vote counting committee and voted on the list of candidates eligible to be considered for recognition as meeting the standards for the titles of professor and associate professor.

According to Decision 37/2018 of the Prime Minister , the general standards for the titles of professor and associate professor include:

Not violating the ethics of teachers, not being disciplined from the form of reprimand or above or serving a criminal sentence; honest and objective in training, scientific research and other professional activities; having time to perform training tasks from university level or above according to regulations;

Complete assigned tasks and perform enough standard teaching hours according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , including at least 1/2 of the standard hours for direct teaching in class. For guest lecturers, they must perform at least 50% of the prescribed standard teaching hours;

Proficient in at least one foreign language for professional work and able to communicate in English; have enough minimum converted scientific work points according to job title regulations.
