According to the Jakarta Globe, Sari Murni Abadi (SMA) - the Indonesian snack maker Momogi - is planning to "acquire" Bibica from PAN Group (stock code: PAN) to increase its presence in Southeast Asia.
Sharing with Dan Tri newspaper reporter, PAN Group media representative confirmed that the two sides have a cooperation agreement. However, the deal is still in the process of implementation and there is no specific information yet.
Bibica (stock code: BBC) is known as one of the largest and most experienced confectionery and biscuit manufacturers in Vietnam. In 2022, PAN Group, chaired by Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung, purchased 7.4 million BBC shares at a public price of VND71,000/share.
During this period, the total amount of money that the above group spent to carry out this transaction is estimated to be more than 524 billion VND. After the transaction, the group increased its ownership in Bibica to 98.3% of charter capital.
Meanwhile, information from the Jakarta Globe quoted Sari Murni Abadi, chief financial officer, as saying that this acquisition is in line with the company's ambition to expand its international footprint and strengthen its position in the global fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market.
In 2024, Bibica is known to have regained the hundred billion dong profit mark. In the first 9 months of this year, the company earned nearly 71 billion dong in profit - an increase of more than 18% over the same period.
