Many localities across the country have announced plans for public high school grade 10 enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year.

According to Circular No. 30 on junior high school and high school admissions recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training , admission to grade 10 of public high schools can be in the form of entrance exams, selection, or entrance exams combined with selection.

The selection of admission methods is under the authority of the locality. For the entrance examination method to grade 10 of high school, to ensure consistency and ensure the viewpoint of a light and inexpensive exam, the Circular generally stipulates the implementation of 3 subjects and exams, including: Math, Literature and a third subject or exam selected by the Department of Education and Training.

The Department of Education and Training will choose one of two options for the third exam subject. In option 1, the third exam subject is chosen from among the subjects that are evaluated by scores in the general education program at the secondary level, ensuring that the same third exam subject is not chosen for more than three consecutive years.

Option 2, the third exam is a combined exam of a number of subjects selected from among the subjects assessed by scores in the secondary school general education program.

Most localities that announced their 10th grade enrollment plans chose the third exam subject as a foreign language (English).

According to information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training on February 6, the Department is urgently researching and drafting a plan to enroll students in the first grades of the 2025-2026 school year, including 10th grade enrollment. 10th grade enrollment will be conducted by exam method, including two subjects: Literature and Math. The third exam subject is expected to be announced next March.
