Abundant tourism resources
Nam Ban commune in Lam Ha district is located more than 20 km east of the provincial center and 8 km from Lien Khuong International Airport. It boasts a mild climate, a rich natural ecosystem, diverse culture, and significant tourism development potential. According to statistics, there are currently two recognized agro-tourism destinations in the area: Cuong Hoan Private Enterprise for Silk Production and Tourism Services and Tam Trinh Coffee Experiences; one destination is in the process of completing its application for assessment and licensing; and numerous other scenic spots offering natural experiences.
Notably, since 2001, Elephant Waterfall Tourist Area has been classified as a National Monument and Scenic Site. Elephant Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Central Highlands. The indigenous K'ho people named the waterfall Liêng Rơwoa Jơi Biêng – the waterfall of elephants kneeling and turning to stone before passionate and unwavering love. The waterfall is over 30 meters high, and behind the cascading white water spray are mysterious caves. Besides its poetic beauty, Elephant Waterfall was once a revolutionary base during the two wars of resistance against France and the United States.
Nam Ban, Lam Ha, is home to Hanoi residents in the Central Highlands and boasts cultural tourism resources reflecting both the culture of Hanoi and the Kinh people of the Northern Delta. Among these, the Quan Ho folk songs stand out – a distinctive form of folk music, a spiritual nourishment and a beautiful cultural aspect of the Kinh people of the North. Furthermore, the former Me Linh commune is home to the Temple of the Two Trung Sisters – the site of the annual Hai Ba Trung Festival, held on the 6th day of the first lunar month – a typical traditional festival of the Northern Delta region, preserved by the local people. Other cultural architectural landmarks include Linh An Pagoda – a popular tourist attraction featuring a statue of Quan The Am Bodhisattva over 70 meters tall.
According to Ms. Le Thi Thuyet, Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Affairs Department, the area also has a system of rivers, streams, and irrigation works with potential for tourism development, such as the Cam Ly Thuong dam, Dong Thanh lake, Bay Tang waterfall, Tron lake, Bai Cong lake, and Tu Liem lake, creating many beautiful scenic spots. Currently, in Nam Ban commune, Lam Ha district, several tourism products have been developed that exploit the potential of culture, natural landscapes, and agriculture . These models initially serve the needs of tourists for sightseeing and experiences, contributing to improving the livelihoods of local people and raising awareness of environmental protection in the area.
Developing a chain of green tourism products.
During the period 2020-2025, the entire commune is expected to welcome nearly 2 million visitors, including over 39,000 international tourists. However, according to assessments, the growth rate and investment potential at various tourist areas and sites still lack optimal solutions.
Therefore, Nam Ban commune in Lam Ha district has oriented its development towards tourism routes and destinations within and in conjunction with other localities, preserving and promoting historical, cultural, and natural relics. The commune has also developed a tourism development plan for Nam Ban, Lam Ha district until 2030, with a vision to 2035. This plan focuses on planning and developing tourism destinations and products within the area. The goal is to have at least 5 recognized tourism areas and destinations linked to the advantages of local culture, natural landscapes, high-quality agriculture, or traditional crafts.
The focus of the project is to invest in, upgrade, and connect existing tourist destinations, promoting the value of famous historical sites and scenic spots such as Elephant Waterfall and Linh An Pagoda. Through this, the project aims to preserve and enhance the cultural and historical value of the Temple of the Two Trung Sisters, combined with Linh An Pagoda and Nam Ban Church, to develop unique spiritual tourism products. Simultaneously, it supports the development of agro-tourism, experiential tourism, and handicraft village tourism models.
The project is expected to contribute to promoting and accelerating economic growth, rationally exploiting the potential of existing tourism resources, and simultaneously promoting the image, people, and culture of Nam Ban, Lam Ha...
