Comrade Nguyen Thu shared: "Currently, I have turned 92 years old, but the heroic historical moments of the past are always present in my mind, especially the bravery and resilience of the soldiers who fought heroically, not sparing their blood and bones for 60 days and nights to protect Hanoi, to ensure the safety of our army's clever retreat across the Red River to the Viet Bac Military Zone, to carry out a long-term resistance war."

People from the free zones and temporarily occupied areas of Bac Ninh, Hanoi and Phuc Yen eagerly poured out to welcome the victorious army.
"At that time, each of us soldiers was awarded a "Dien Bien Phu Victory Badge" by President Ho Chi Minh. It was truly an honor and a great pride. We all cherished and attached that badge to our chests, close to our hearts, considering it a priceless keepsake, to preserve for life and pass on to future generations" - Comrade Nguyen Thu shared.
On the morning of October 10, 1954, the 308th Division, commanded by Major General Vuong Thua Vu, divided into many large wings, launched a march to take over the capital. "Looking back after 70 years, we, the soldiers of the past, are extremely proud and excited about the dramatic changes in the Capital and the country. The people are living in peace, happiness, and life is increasingly prosperous. We always keep in mind: we are soldiers of the Capital Regiment, soldiers of Dien Bien in the past, and veterans who will always promote the revolutionary tradition, uphold the good qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", be exemplary in lifestyle, comply with and implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies; constantly study and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style. Actively participate in local movements, contributing to building the Capital and the country to become increasingly prosperous, civilized, and progressive" - Comrade Nguyen Thu said emotionally.
Comrade Nguyen Thu sent a message to today's young generations: "To have a beautiful life like today, previous generations have gone through many difficulties and sacrificed their blood and bones to gain independence and freedom. You should always remember the advice of beloved Uncle Ho: "Whether Vietnam's mountains and rivers become beautiful or not, whether the Vietnamese people can step up to the glorious stage to stand shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the five continents or not, depends largely on your studies", so that you will know how to appreciate, cherish and strive to study, work, contribute, and be determined to maintain the independence and sovereignty of the Fatherland, to build your homeland and country to be more and more prosperous and happy".
