On the morning of April 19, in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) organized the opening of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway Project from the National Highway 1 intersection to Nguyen Van Tao intersection.

This is one of the online bridges for constructions and projects starting and inaugurating across the country to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

The project has a total length of more than 21 km, starting at the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway and Ring Road 3 in Long An province; ending at the intersection with Nguyen Van Tao Street in Nha Be district, Ho Chi Minh City.

In terms of scale, the road is designed with 4 lanes for cars, with a design speed of 100 km/h.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway section connects from the intersection of Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway to Hiep Phuoc port.

Previously, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, VEC temporarily put into operation two sections including: the section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong intersection to the National Highway 1A intersection and the section from the Phuoc An intersection to the National Highway 51 intersection to reduce traffic pressure on some routes.

Exploiting the entire western section from the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong intersection to Nguyen Van Tao intersection will significantly contribute to reducing traffic through Ho Chi Minh City and especially when exploiting this section, it will connect the western region with Hiep Phuoc port cluster, facilitating the transportation of goods to the port instead of moving through Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, after exploiting more than 21 km along with 7 km from Phuoc An intersection to National Highway 51 intersection through Dong Nai province, the total number of kilometers of Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway exploited to date will be nearly 30/57.8 km. VEC will continue to construct the remaining part to open the entire Ben Luc - Long Thanh route to traffic in 2026.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway construction project is part of the North - South Expressway axis invested by VEC with a length of 57.8 km, passing through 3 provinces and cities: Long An (2.7 km), Ho Chi Minh City (26.4 km) and Dong Nai (28.7 km).

The total investment of the project is 29,587 billion VND, using loans from the Japan International Cooperation Agency ( JICA), the Asian Development Bank ( ADB), counterpart funds from the state budget and capital arranged by VEC.

After completion and operation, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway will connect traffic in the Western region and the Southeast region, contributing to reducing traffic congestion in the region, including: National Highway 1, National Highway 51 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway.

At the same time, it plays an important role in promoting socio -economic development and ensuring national defense and security in the Southern key economic region.
