(LĐ online) - On May 6-7, Lam Dong Provincial Police coordinated with the working group of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order - Ministry of Public Security to collect DNA samples from relatives of unidentified martyrs in Lam Dong province to put into the gene bank (DNA) to serve the identification of remains with missing information.

During this period, the Working Group organized the collection of DNA samples for a total of nearly 100 cases, including directly for nearly 80 families and relatives of martyrs at the Lam Dong Provincial Police Hall and organized mobile working groups to localities in the province to collect DNA samples for 3 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, 5 biological mothers and 10 cases of relatives of sick, elderly and immobile families with the motto and sample collection process, ensuring speed, accuracy and convenience for relatives.

Collecting information and DNA samples of martyrs' relatives is an urgent and humane task, aiming to soon search for, identify and bring the remains of heroic martyrs back to their homeland and families.

Speaking at the program, the leader of the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order affirmed that since the country's reunification, nearly 50 years ago, over the past years, the Party and State have always cared for the material and spiritual lives of families of martyrs, war invalids, sick soldiers and those who have contributed to the revolution to demonstrate the tradition of "repaying gratitude". This is the sacred responsibility and duty of every Vietnamese citizen.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, and towards the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the Provincial Police, with its core role, proactively advised and coordinated with the Department of Home Affairs and related units to synchronously deploy solutions to serve the work of collecting and updating complete information of relatives associated with information of martyrs to be ready to integrate DNA information data of martyrs' remains and relatives into the identification database in accordance with the direction of the National Steering Committee on searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs with missing information.

Present at the centralized sample collection, Mr. Nguyen Chi Hoang - brother of martyr Nguyen Muoi (Lien Hiep commune, Duc Trong district) was extremely emotional. He said that his family had searched for the martyr many times since receiving the death notice from the Military Command of Thuan Hai province (now Binh Thuan) in 1977, but there was still no information.

Mr. Hoang said that this is an extremely important program, contributing to easing the losses and sacrifices of relatives and families of martyrs. The families also really want to bring the remains of martyrs back to their families and homeland.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Security has deployed the construction of the Identification Database to serve the implementation of the Identification Law, which ensures the storage of citizens' DNA biometric data when citizens voluntarily provide it. For DNA data of citizens who are relatives of martyrs whose information has not been identified, the Ministry of Public Security will centrally store it in the Identification Database to compare, verify, and search for martyr information, ensuring effective exploitation of citizen data.
