Hong Gia Thanh has never had any… unsold products.
Gia Thanh commune is currently the largest seedless rose orchard in Phu Ninh district and Phu Tho province. These days, coming to Gia Thanh commune, the hillsides and gardens of Gia Thanh roses are full of big, round, and ripe fruits hanging from the branches from home gardens to the fields and vast hillsides.
Joining farmers in Gia Thanh commune, busy harvesting seedless persimmons on the hillside garden, Mr. Ho Van Quyet - Chairman of Gia Thanh commune People's Committee said that this place is inherently barren land, steep land that is easily washed away, and infertile, not favorable for agricultural production activities like many other localities in the province.
"But with their own way, especially in recent years, applying the organic farming process, many households have succeeded in developing their family economy with traditional crops - Gia Thanh seedless persimmons on their homeland," Mr. Quyet shared.

According to the Chairman of Gia Thanh Commune People's Committee, for the past 10 years, Gia Thanh seedless persimmons have been the main source of income for many households in the commune. People have focused on investing in and renovating mixed gardens, planting persimmons to replace low-economically efficient palm and eucalyptus hills with lush green persimmon gardens.
"Gia Thanh persimmons are very special, easily recognizable because they have no seeds, are large, elongated, and when ripe they are bright yellow. When eaten, they are sweet, cool, crispy, and naturally delicious. Thanks to that, Gia Thanh persimmons are considered a precious specialty, used to be offered to the king in the past. Today, they are very popular with consumers in and outside Phu Tho province," Mr. Quyet emphasized.
The head of Gia Thanh commune government also affirmed that people have never had to worry about the output of Gia Thanh seedless persimmons. Many traders from Hanoi, Hai Phong, Vinh Phuc... came to order from farmers very early in large quantities. Gia Thanh persimmons sell for 30,000-50,000 VND/kg depending on the quality and appearance of the fruit, bringing the main source of income for families every year.

As one of the households with a large area of seedless persimmons with high economic efficiency in Gia Thanh commune, Ms. Han Thi Thanh Binh's family not only preserves and conserves the local precious seedless persimmon variety but also takes the lead in applying advanced science and technology, organic production methods to develop the family economy for Phu Tho specialty persimmons.
For many years, Mrs. Binh's family has been a high-income household, up to 300 million VND/year, getting rich from Gia Thanh persimmon trees, contributing to building the product brand and expanding the area of local specialty trees.
"Nearly 1 hectare of Gia Thanh seedless persimmons with 120 persimmon trees that are over 20 years old is entering the harvest season. This year, the fruit is large and beautiful. It is expected that this persimmon crop, we will harvest nearly 5 tons of fruit and traders have come to our house to deposit to buy the entire garden, at a price of 40,000 VND/kg; at the end of the season, the price will be up to 50,000 VND/kg," Ms. Binh shared.
In addition to harvesting Gia Thanh persimmons every year, from 2021 to now, Ms. Binh's family has also produced about 4,000 seedlings each year with a selling price of 150,000-200,000 VND/tree, thereby increasing income, having revolving capital, helping Ms. Binh feel more and more secure in investing, improving quality, and developing the economy with the specialty Gia Thanh persimmon tree.
"The whole commune has planted more than 160 hectares of Gia Thanh persimmons, about 70 hectares of which are entering the fruit harvest season. To encourage people to expand the area and improve the quality of Gia Thanh persimmon products, the locality has many support policies on agricultural services, paying special attention to protecting the brand, avoiding mixing in poor quality products that discredit local specialty fruits" - Chairman of Gia Thanh Commune People's Committee Ho Van Quyet emphasized.

"The Cooperative always adheres to the organic Gia Thanh persimmon production process; constantly updates and disseminates information on the application of science in agricultural production to members.
In particular, to ensure the consumption of persimmons for members, right from the beginning of the season, Gia Thanh Cooperative has guided and urged members to register the expected harvest output. From there, the board of directors plans and signs contracts to sell persimmon products with partners for distribution and consumption throughout the region.
Now entering the peak harvest season of specialty persimmons, the cooperative has also increased its workforce, actively supporting members in harvesting and preserving persimmons according to standards for sale," added Director of Gia Thanh Agricultural Service Cooperative Han Cong Khanh.
According to Mr. Khanh, right after harvesting the persimmons, the cooperative has a plan to deploy to each member about focusing on taking care of the persimmon garden that has produced stable fruit; pruning branches, creating canopy, having a reasonable fertilizer and irrigation regime to compensate for the nutrition of the previous crop. At the same time, continue to mobilize and encourage people to expand the new planting area.
People will become "millionaires" thanks to Gia Thanh roses
It is known that in order to have good seedless Gia Thanh rose varieties that meet quality standards, Phu Ninh district has selected excellent rose varieties to have a plan to preserve and protect them as a long-term source of seeds for production.
Encourage households to continue to renovate and convert other ineffective land areas to grow roses. District professional agencies guide people on techniques for planting and caring for rose trees, ensuring that the trees grow well, improving productivity, quality, and product design...
With such a wish, in the future, many households like Mrs. Han Thi Thanh Binh's family in Gia Thanh commune will strive to become rich from seedless persimmons, contributing to the success of the new rural construction movement of Phu Ninh district, while protecting and developing the "Gia Thanh seedless persimmon" brand in a sustainable manner.
