Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visits China and attends the WEF Tianjin Conference

This morning, June 25, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh departed for an official visit to China and attended the 14th Annual Meeting of WEF Pioneers (WEF Tianjin).

At the invitation of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Qiang and Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Klaus Schwab, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid an official visit to the People's Republic of China and attended the 14th Annual Meeting of WEF Pioneers from June 25-28.

Accompanying the Prime Minister were Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Minister - Head of the Government Office Tran Van Son; Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung; Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien; Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh; Chairman of the State Capital Management Committee Nguyen Hoang Anh; Deputy Minister of Public Security Luong Tam Quang; Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu; Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai, Deputy Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Bui Van Thach. The Prime Minister's working trip was also attended by leaders of a number of ministries, branches and localities.

As planned, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the official welcoming ceremony chaired by Chinese Premier Li Qiang. The two Prime Ministers will have official talks and witness the signing ceremony.

The Prime Minister is expected to meet with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping, Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji; meet with friendly intellectuals and dignitaries; receive a number of typical Korean businesses, attend the Vietnam-China business forum; visit the Hung An new area and meet with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in China and the Vietnamese community there.

During this visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will attend the WEF Tianjin, organized by the WEF in coordination with the Chinese Government. This is the second largest conference after the WEF Davos (Switzerland).

It is expected that, during the conference, the Prime Minister will attend the opening session; attend and speak at the plenary session "Coping with headwinds: Restarting growth in a fragile context"; the Vietnam-WEF National Strategy Dialogue; attend and speak at the Working Lunch on the topic "Preventing a lost decade". The Prime Minister is expected to receive WEF Executive Chairman Klaus Schwab and have a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the conference.

This is Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's first official visit to China, and also the first official visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to China in the past 7 years, continuing the regular exchanges and contacts between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries in recent times.

The visit takes place in the context of 2023 being the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

According to Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu, the visit continues the tradition of high-level contacts and exchanges between the two countries; demonstrates the importance of the two Parties and two countries in the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the determination to develop this relationship to become more sustainable, stable and substantive.

The visit is a very important new development, aiming to concretize and implement the substantive results of the extremely successful visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China in November 2022, especially in the context of the regional and world economic downturn. According to the Deputy Minister, the visit will focus on finding specific measures to promote economic and trade cooperation.

And this visit will also contribute to enhancing political trust, promoting the finding of solutions to remaining differences between the two sides.

Regarding the participation in the WEF Tianjin Conference, in the current difficult economic context, the participation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and Vietnamese enterprises this time is expected to make a very important contribution to the overall success of the Conference, including three aspects.

This year's 14th conference, themed "Enterprise: The Engine of the Global Economy", includes more than 100 sessions, focusing on issues such as growth adjustment, energy and raw material transition, nature and climate protection, post-pandemic consumption, China in the global context, and innovation application.

It is expected that in his important speech at the Conference, the Prime Minister will make a number of recommendations related to public-private partnership models, coordination models between the Government and enterprises as well as measures to attract green and sustainable financial sources into the Vietnamese economy.

“I believe that the contributions and participation of the Prime Minister and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation will certainly bring about many important results, contributing to the overall success of the Conference,” Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said in a press interview before the visit.
