The forum provides an opportunity for trade union officials, members, civil servants, and workers to fulfill their roles and responsibilities in proposing and recommending solutions to boost national labor productivity, contributing to the development of a prosperous and happy country.

In his opening remarks at the Forum, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, stated that, in accordance with Notice No. 77-TB/TW dated February 24, 2012, the conclusion of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam agreeing to designate May as Workers' Month, since 2016, meetings, dialogues, and exchanges between the Prime Minister and union members, workers, civil servants, and laborers at all levels of trade unions nationwide have become annual activities. These activities aim to promote the attention of the entire political system and society in addressing workers' issues and fostering the development of a modern and strong Vietnamese working class.

Workers' Month is also an opportunity to widely publicize the role and mission of the Vietnamese working class, and to further promote and affirm its pioneering position and leading force in the industrialization and modernization of the country. This is also a concrete implementation of the Regulations on the working relationship between the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor .

Over the years, the Government and the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor have closely coordinated and effectively implemented many activities and solutions to address pressing issues related to employment, income, living standards, security, and safety of workers; building a modern and strong working class; and making a significant contribution to the overall achievements of the country.

With the determination to successfully implement the Party's resolutions and the Government's strategies, programs, and plans, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has developed and implemented the program "Vietnam Trade Unions accompany the Government in enhancing national competitiveness and sustainable development of the country in the period 2019-2023," achieving many positive results.

"Faced with the requirement to achieve the socio-economic goals and targets for the 2021-2026 term set by the Party, the National Assembly, and the Government, and continuing to affirm the role of the Trade Union in accompanying the Government, on the occasion of the 2024 Workers' Month and towards the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024), the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is organizing a Forum with the theme "Improving National Labor Productivity in 2024" with the hope that the Forum will be an opportunity for workers, civil servants, trade union officials, and businesses in different positions to exchange, discuss, and evaluate the current state of Vietnam's labor productivity, its causes, and bottlenecks," Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang said.

In particular, the forum aims to solicit proposals, recommendations, and suggestions to the Government and the Prime Minister on solutions to further promote labor productivity improvement, primarily from the perspective of the workers themselves. The forum hopes to receive feedback, assessments, and messages from the Prime Minister to workers nationwide regarding the issue of improving labor productivity.

According to the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, although the Forum's duration is short, it is driven by dedication and responsibility towards a major national issue… Therefore, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khang suggested that speeches should get straight to the point, focusing on feasible solutions to improve labor productivity in each area of discussion.
