According to the VNA correspondent in Africa, within the framework of the visit from May 26 to 29, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia met with General Secretary of the ruling People's Liberation Movement of Angola (MPLA) Paulo Pombolo; held talks with Manuel Domigos Augusto, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of foreign affairs of the MPLA and Esteves Carlos Hilário, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of information and communications of the MPLA; and had working sessions with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technology of Angola.
At meetings and working sessions with MPLA leaders and leaders of Angolan ministries, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia stated that the visit aimed to promote the traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the Party, State and people of Vietnam and Angola as well as towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.
Informing and introducing to Angolan leaders some outstanding achievements in Vietnam's economic and social development, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that in terms of foreign affairs, Vietnam continues to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification in international relations; promoting the implementation of the "Vietnamese bamboo" school of foreign affairs and diplomacy, imbued with the Vietnamese national identity of "firm roots, strong trunk, flexible branches".
Meeting with MPLA Party General Secretary Paulo Pombolo in the capital Luanda, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia conveyed the greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President To Lam to MPLA Party Chairman and Angolan President João Lourenço.
MPLA Secretary General Paulo Pombolo also shared that the MPLA Chairman and President of Angola has directed the need to strengthen relations with friendly parties that have gone through difficulties together and have been loyal to Angola. Among them, the Communist Party of Vietnam is a top priority. Mr. Pombolo also informed that the MPLA has an economic committee to support the government in carrying out the task of developing the country and expressed his wish that both sides share experiences in this field.
He said that Angola is calling for foreign investment to develop the country, hoping that Vietnamese investors with their potential and inherent advantages will pay attention and increase investment in Angola to contribute to promoting Angola's economic development. He affirmed that Angola is very willing to create the best conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Angola.
The MPLA Party leader also expressed his hope that Vietnam, with its advanced technology in the fields of communications, agriculture, mining and construction, could share its experience with Angola in these areas.
In response, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed: "In its foreign policy, Vietnam always attaches importance to multi-faceted cooperation with Angola and the PMLA Party."
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that Vietnam will never forget and always appreciate the selfless, pure, and fraternal support and assistance that the MPLA Party and the Angolan people have given to the Party and people of Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.
Sharing the emotion when Angola named a large avenue in the center of the capital Luanda after President Ho Chi Minh, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that this is a testament to the affection and respect that the Party and State of Angola have for President Ho Chi Minh and the Party, State and People of Vietnam. "We consider this a priceless asset that needs to be preserved, promoted and passed on to future generations."
With the desire to further consolidate and promote bilateral relations to become increasingly in-depth, effective and substantive in all fields, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia proposed a number of specific directions and measures, including continuing to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly of the two countries, to consolidate political trust and orient the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.
He expressed his hope that the Party Chairman and President of Angola will soon visit Vietnam so that the two countries have the opportunity to exchange experiences, sign a bilateral cooperation agreement to promote political and economic relations, direct ministries and sectors towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, encourage youth and women's organizations to exchange, and support each other at international forums.
The two sides exchanged views in the spirit of promoting friendship and cooperation between the two countries and agreed to work together to expand many new areas of cooperation in addition to the traditional cooperation between the two countries.
At the meeting with Mr. Manuel Domigos Augusto, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of foreign affairs of the MPLA party and Mr. Esteves Carlos Hilário, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of information and communication of the MPLA party, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the development achievements of Angola, under the leadership of the MPLA party, overcoming difficulties and challenges to carry out reforms, diversify the economy, strengthen foreign affairs and international integration.
The two sides discussed a number of specific cooperation programs, including promoting high-level visits by Angolan Party and State leaders to Vietnam and signing a bilateral cooperation agreement for the 2024-2029 period.
The two sides will also cooperate in developing a plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and promote communication work so that the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, can deeply understand the friendship and tradition that the two countries have worked hard to build over the past half century.
Regarding foreign affairs, the two sides agreed to support continued coordination, unify stances on international and regional issues, and support each other in enhancing prestige and role at multilateral political party forums of which both sides are members.
During the visit and working session in Angola, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam had a working session with Foreign Minister Tete António and Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira.
On the evening of May 28, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and the working delegation met and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola and the Vietnamese community in Angola.
