
This afternoon, June 6, at the 7th Session, the National Assembly approved the Prime Minister's proposal to appoint Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang - Deputy Minister of Public Security to hold the position of Minister of Public Security for the 2021-2026 term, by secret ballot.
The resolution approving the Prime Minister 's proposal to appoint the Minister of Public Security was also passed with 468/469 delegates participating in the vote (equal to 96.1% of the total number of National Assembly delegates).
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang takes over the position of General To Lam - who was elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of President for the 2021-2026 term and approved the dismissal of the position of Minister of Public Security on May 22, 2024, also at the 7th Session.
The National Assembly also conducted the process of electing Mr. Luong Tam Quang as a member of the National Defense and Security Council.
Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang was born in 1965; hometown Hiep Cuong commune, Kim Dong district, Hung Yen province; member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
He has a Bachelor of Law and Security. Before 2012, he was Assistant to the Deputy Minister of Public Security. After that, Mr. Luong Tam Quang held the positions of Deputy Chief of Office, then Chief of Office of the Ministry of Public Security and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Public Security.
In August 2019, he held the position of Deputy Minister of Public Security and then concurrently Head of the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency.
In January 2021, at the 13th National Congress of the Party, Mr. Luong Tam Quang was elected as a member of the 13th Party Central Committee.
