On September 24, 2024, the Tri An Hydropower Plant in Dong Nai province released a large volume of water to regulate and ensure the safety of the reservoir.
The discharge rate has now increased from 320 m³/s to 480 m³/s, with the total downstream flow, including flow through the power generation turbines, reaching approximately 1,280-1,330 m³/s.

Currently, the water flow from upstream into Tri An Lake is increasing, averaging 2,000 m3/s, and the water level in the lake has reached 60.4m (the safe level is 62m).
The Tri An Hydropower Plant will assess the flood alert level in the downstream area of the Dong Nai River to release water at an appropriate flow rate. Forecasts indicate that in the coming days, rising river levels and the release of water from the Tri An Hydropower Plant may cause flooding in the downstream area of the Dong Nai River.
In response to this situation, Tri An Hydropower Plant has closely coordinated with relevant authorities to warn people in the downstream areas. The provinces of Dong Nai, Binh Duong , and Ho Chi Minh City have received notifications to proactively implement measures to prevent flooding and landslides.
The Dong Nai Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station also issued a warning that water levels on the Dong Nai River are rising, nearly reaching alarm level 3.
Many low-lying areas such as Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Vinh Cuu, Bien Hoa, Long Thanh, and Nhon Trach are at risk of flooding. Several districts in Binh Duong province and Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City, are also at risk of being severely affected.
The Dong Nai Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station has issued a warning urging local authorities to promptly implement response measures to protect the property and lives of citizens.
Earlier, on September 22nd, the water level at the Ta Lai station on the upper reaches of the Dong Nai River reached 112.76m, exceeding alarm level 2. At the same time, the Bien Hoa station downstream also recorded a water level close to alarm level 2, marking one of the highest water levels since the beginning of the year.
