What does billionaire Jeff Bezos think about Elon Musk's influence?

Billionaire Jeff Bezos is not worried about the possibility of rival Elon Musk using his relationship with US President-elect Donald Trump to influence Blue Origin and SpaceX's space race.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos, Chairman of the Board of Amazon, gave an interview to Reuters on January 12th regarding the competition between his space company Blue Origin and Elon Musk's SpaceX.

Billionaire Jeff Bezos believes Elon Musk will not exploit his relationship with President-elect Trump for personal gain.

Bezos doesn't believe Musk will use his close relationship with President-elect Trump to exclude Blue Origin from the space race, and said he's "very optimistic" about the upcoming administration's space program.

Elon Musk has donated over $250 million to Trump's campaign and was chosen by the president-elect to co-lead an informal advisory board on government effectiveness.

"Elon has made it very clear that he is doing this for the public good and not for personal gain. And I believe his word," said billionaire Jeff Bezos.

Bezos's Blue Origin company is preparing to launch the New Glenn rocket, a reusable heavy-lift launch vehicle seen as a rival to SpaceX's rockets.

Musk is a powerful and influential figure alongside Trump and is trusted by the president-elect on space issues. Last month, Musk drew attention when he suggested that the US should immediately launch missions to Mars instead of the moon. This statement raised concerns within the space industry about a major shift in NASA's exploration program.

Commenting on the issue, Bezos said: "My opinion is that we should do both. We need to go to the moon and we should go to Mars. What we shouldn't do is start and stop things. We should definitely continue the moon program."
