Up to this point, the number of scholarships supported by universities this year for the 2025 Relay to School Program is nearly 150 scholarships with more than 2.2 billion VND, double last year's number.
Teachers are concerned about the dreams of new students.
Immediately after the Support to School program was announced on the morning of August 6, Dr. Phan Hong Hai - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry - proactively contacted Tuoi Tre newspaper to support 22 scholarships (total value of 400 million VND, including 2 special scholarships) for the school's new students. This school has been a companion of the Support to School program for many years.
Mr. Hai confided that during his time working in education, the thing that always made him most troubled and worried was the eyes of poor students - those who have dreams, aspirations, and extraordinary determination, but are struggling every day not to give up on studying just because of economic circumstances.
"There are stories that we can never forget. I was personally moved by the story of Nguyen Ngoc Nhu Uyen, a 21-year-old young person who became a new student at our school last year.
Both parents are blind. Uyen went to school but was so poor that she had to quit and work as a delivery girl to survive. Despite her difficult family situation, Uyen's academic results last school year were excellent.
In fact, there are many young people like Uyen. They do not ask for pity, just an outstretched arm, a timely companion. And that is exactly what the Support to School scholarship has been doing very well over the years. This year's scholarship season, we decided to add 2 special scholarships of 50 million VND/scholarship/4 years to support the school's new students in difficulty," Mr. Hai shared.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Pham Tien Dat - Principal of the University of Finance - Marketing , the program "Giving strength to school" has become a bridge of love, giving strength and confidence to thousands of new students across the country over the years.
"With the humane message 'One aspiration - Ten thousand hearts', the program not only provides material support but also spreads great spiritual values, helping young people confidently embark on a new journey in life.
This year, our school decided to increase the scholarship amount to 75 million VND (5 scholarships) to join hands to share with new students in difficult circumstances, giving them more motivation to pursue their study dreams," Mr. Dat shared.
Believe in the humane message and professional selection of Tuoi Tre newspaper
Many other universities have also informed Tuoi Tre about their support for the 2025 Tiep Suc Den Truong scholarship right after the program was announced on August 6.
Of which, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has decided to support 50 scholarships (total value of 750 million VND) for the school's new students.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Le Quan - Principal of the University of Natural Sciences (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - said that this year, for the first time, the school has joined the Support to School Program , supporting 10 scholarships (total value of 150 million VND) with the desire to share community responsibility, fueling the fire of belief for new students with strong will and determination to continue writing their dreams of studying at university.

I believe that, in addition to the initial support, if the School Support program is combined with study counseling, skills training and business connection activities, each young person entering the classroom will be fully empowered with knowledge, skills and opportunities, to confidently go to graduation day.
In addition, over the years, the University of Natural Sciences has always maintained diverse scholarship funds and financial support sources to accompany students throughout their university journey, such as: talent scholarships, companion scholarships, alumni scholarships, scholarships from partner businesses, and emergency support policies for difficult cases.
Sharing about the decision to support 10 scholarships (total amount of 150 million VND), Dr. Nguyen Tan Tran Minh Khang - Vice Principal of the University of Information Technology (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - said: "Personally, I and the school community highly appreciate the beautiful humanity of the Support to School program.
In particular, the selection of scholarship recipients was done very carefully by Tuoi Tre newspaper. The school completely trusted us so they contributed funds to help the new students of the school. I think this scholarship contributes to bringing good values in life."
MSc. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) - also said that the program "Tiep suc den truong" has a very humane nature and great spreading value.
In particular, this scholarship has helped many young people at a turning point in their lives, either going to university to pursue their dreams or having to drop out of school because they don't have enough money for tuition.
"The school believes and hopes that this program will spread to many businesses, universities and benefactors at home and abroad.
In 2024, our school had 9 new students receiving scholarships from this program. They have now overcome the difficult period, are studying very well and regularly participate in the school's group activities. This year, the school decided to continue supporting 10 scholarships (total amount of 150 million VND)," Mr. Tien shared.
Many meanings in terms of timing
MSc. Le Van Hien - Head of the Training Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law - said that in the context of university autonomy, all schools have increased tuition fees according to Government regulations. Therefore, the issue of tuition fees is a concern for many new students right from the moment they enter university.
"In reality, there are new students entering the university who immediately face the worry of not being able to pay the first semester tuition fee, many of them drop out of school due to financial difficulties. We believe that the Tiep Suc Den Truong scholarship has a lot of meaning in terms of timing and great spiritual encouragement for young people.
The program is full of humanity and depth. That is also the reason why the school continues to accompany this program by supporting 10 scholarships for the school's new students facing difficulties" - Mr. Hien said.
Dr. Vo Van Tuan - Vice Principal of Van Lang University - said that the school is always steadfast in pursuing the mission of inspiring and creating positive impacts on society, building a modern and open learning environment, encouraging proactiveness and comprehensive development of learners.
Therefore, the school is always ready to accompany the program "Tiep suc den truong" , a meaningful and humane program that persistently spreads the spirit of sharing and social responsibility.
" Tiep suc den truong is a far-reaching initiative, contributing to promoting social security values and evoking the spirit of cooperation from educational organizations, businesses and the community. We appreciate the transparent and responsible way the program is implemented, targeting the right audience, new students who really need a foothold to start their university journey.
This is not only material support, but also invaluable spiritual encouragement, giving children more confidence and strength at this turning point in their lives.
This year, the school continues to support 20 scholarships for new students with difficult circumstances, as a practical encouragement, a boost for them to confidently conquer the lecture hall with their own efforts and aspirations," said Mr. Tuan.
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Quang Hung (Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics):
Giving wings to dreams is also an educational journey.
For Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) , education is not only a journey of imparting knowledge, but also a mission of sowing hope and giving wings to dreams for the younger generation, especially students who overcome difficult circumstances to continue their education. This is also the guiding principle on the journey of building and developing UEH over the past nearly 50 years.
Continuing the effort to spread and share with those in difficult circumstances, this year UEH continues to support 10 scholarships for the Support to School program.
Through this practical action, we hope to provide timely assistance to disadvantaged new students to be more confident on their journey to conquer knowledge ahead.
We believe that when a generation is empowered in time, a whole society will move forward with intelligence and compassion. Joining the Support to School Program is the way for UEH to spread that belief, for a future where no one is left behind on the journey of knowledge.
