Every Vietnamese person, whether studying or working in Vietnam or abroad, has their own way to shine and contribute to the Fatherland.
Preparing to return to Vietnam to work, Master Dao Manh Tri excitedly shared: "I feel lucky to have had the opportunity and conditions to accumulate knowledge and skills, and I want to apply them to serve my homeland."

TALENTS OF VIETNAMESE DOCTORAL STUDENTS

Master Dao Manh Tri (28 years old), a PhD student at the Power Transformation Lab, University of California-San Diego (UCSD), USA, recently won the championship of the American Energy Economics Association and the runner-up prize at the Geothermal Collegiate Competition of the US Department of Energy, both on the topic of geothermal energy development. These are significant milestones on the path of him and his team (including 4 PhD students), not only because of the achievements but also because of the social significance behind them. Master Tri said that when participating in the competition of the US Department of Energy, realizing the imbalance in taking advantage of energy policy, especially the disadvantages that remote and suburban cities face, his team proposed and contacted Cascade City, Idaho (USA) to support the development of a geothermal energy project to provide heat for about 2,800 people. The project, proposed by the group, would cost an estimated $11 million, which would include a grant the U.S. Department of Energy has agreed to award to the city.

"For me, being recognized by the US Department of Energy as a Vietnamese PhD student is a recognition in the process of striving to develop Vietnamese intelligence in the international arena. Participating in this project, along with my experience at international conferences such as COP28, has helped me realize that my expertise can be widely promoted, handling technical system problems while ensuring community values. Through my story, I hope to inspire young people to be proactive and bold in participating in practical projects to bring practical values to society," said Master Dao Manh Tri.
