All 36 teams participating in the 2025-2026 Champions League

On the morning of August 28, the 2025-2026 Champions League determined the final 4 teams to enter the group stage after intense second-leg play-off matches.

Qarabag, Brugge, Copenhagen and Benfica are the four teams that have qualified for the play-off round in the early morning of August 28. They have added to the list of 32 names that have already qualified to complete the "squad" of 36 clubs participating in the Champions League this season.

Specifically, among the 36 teams mentioned above, there are 6 representatives of English football: Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle.

Spain has 5 teams: Real Madrid, Barca, Atletico Madrid, Bilbao and Villarreal. Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Leverkusen, Frankfurt are 4 representatives of German football.

Similarly, Italy also has 4 clubs participating: Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta. Next is France with 3 representatives: PSG, Monaco and Marseille. PSV and Ajax are the two representatives of Dutch football. Portuguese football has 2 teams: Benfica and Sporting.

The remaining teams include: Club Brugge, Union Saint-Gilloise (Belgium), Olympiacos (Greece), Slavia Prague (Czech Republic), Bodø/Glimt (Norway), Copenhagen (Denmark), Galatasaray (Turkey), Qarabağ (Azerbaijan), Pafos (Cyprus) and Kairat (Kazakhstan).

The format of this season's Champions League is similar to last year's: the 36 teams will not be divided into groups. Instead, each team will play 8 matches against 8 different opponents (4 home, 4 away). The eight opponents will be drawn randomly based on seeding (36 teams are divided into 4 seeding groups).

After the matches in the above method, the clubs will be ranked based on the results of the matches (8 matches). Of which, the top 8 clubs will qualify for the round of 16. The next 16 clubs (from 9 to 24) will participate in the play-off round with 2 home and away matches to determine the remaining 8 places to participate in the round of 16.

The eight play-off losers will be relegated to the Europa League. The remaining clubs (25 to 36) will be eliminated. From the round of 16, the format will return to that of previous seasons.

The 2025-2026 Champions League draw will take place at 11pm today (August 28) in Nyon, Switzerland. PSG are the current Champions League champions.

Group 1: PSG, Real, Bayern, Inter, Dortmund, Barca, Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea.

Group 2: Arsenal, Leverkusen, Atletico, Atalanta, Villarreal, Juventus, Frankfurt, Benfica and Brugge.

Group 3: Tottenham, PSV, Ajax, Napoli, Sporting, Olympiacos, Slavia Prague, Marseille and Bodo/Glimt.

Group 4: Monaco, Galatasaray, Union Saint-Gilloise, Bilbao, Newcastle, Pafos, Kairat, Copenhagen and Qarabag.
