Heart-stopping moment man hugs electric pole in the middle of raging flood, rescued like in the movies

A man in Ha Nha commune, Da Nang city was swept away by floodwaters. Luckily, he was able to hold onto an electric pole in the midst of the rushing floodwaters and was rescued by people swimming in a boat.

On the evening of October 28, a clip was posted on Facebook showing a man being swept away by floodwaters under Ha Nha Bridge, in Ha Nha Commune, Da Nang (formerly Dai Loc District, Quang Nam ).

This man was lucky to hold onto the electric pole. The Vu Gia river was tossing and turning, but he still tried to hold onto the electric pole.

On Ha Nha bridge, many people shouted for help so that people on boats could come to the rescue.

People also shouted to encourage the man to try to hold on and wait for rescue.

Then two men swam out to rescue and brought the victim safely onto the boat.

After being rescued, the man lay on the boat exhausted after hugging the electric pole in the flood. On the bridge, many people applauded the two boatmen for their timely rescue, just like in the movies.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online the same evening, Mr. Mai Thanh Sang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Nha commune, said that the person swept away by the flood was Mr. Luong Hai, from Ngoc Kinh Dong village, Ha Nha commune.

At 6:30 p.m. the same day, Mr. Hai was swimming his boat out to check on his cows outside the farm when it suddenly capsized. A resident of Hoa Huu Dong village, a Grab driver passing by, discovered him and called for help.

The commune military force later arrived at the scene, but fortunately Mr. Hai was rescued by people using a boat to swim to shore.

Two people rowed a boat to rescue.

The man was brought safely onto the boat.
