This morning, General Secretary To Lam received General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith on the occasion of attending the signing ceremony of the United Nations (UN) Convention against Cybercrime (Hanoi Convention).

The General Secretary highly appreciated the Lao General Secretary and President for attending the convention signing ceremony; the participation of the Lao delegation will contribute significantly to the overall success of the event.

Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his pleasure to attend as an honored guest and witness the signing ceremony of the convention. The convention will be an important legal basis, ensuring cyber security, creating favorable conditions for Vietnam and Laos and their partners to develop sustainably.

Vietnam demonstrates its role and responsibility in global issues

This morning, President Luong Cuong received the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation AV Gutsan. Mr. Gutsan led the Russian delegation to attend the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam and attend a very important multilateral event not only for Vietnam but also for the Russian Federation.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that the participation of the Russian delegation is an important contribution to the overall success of the signing ceremony as well as Russia's support for multilateral activities hosted by Vietnam. The President highly appreciated Russia's role as the country that initially proposed the convention initiative.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that the UN's choice of Hanoi as the venue for the signing ceremony of the convention shows its appreciation of Vietnam's constructive role and responsibility in global issues, especially promoting international cooperation in preventing and combating high-tech crimes.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam always supports all efforts of the international community towards a world of peace, stability and development. In implementing its independent and autonomous foreign policy, Vietnam considers Russia one of its top priorities and wishes to consolidate and deepen the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with Russia.

The President emphasized that the traditional friendship with a 75-year history, having gone through many ups and downs, and nurtured by many generations of senior leaders and people of the two countries, continues to reap many results.

The visits of high-ranking leaders of the two countries have created strong momentum for bilateral cooperation, especially in economics - trade, science - technology, education - training, tourism, health care, etc.

The President highly appreciated and welcomed the increasingly effective cooperation results between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation in recent times.

The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation said that he will continue to promote the exchange of working delegations between the two agencies, increase experience exchange, and train officials in the coming time.

The President affirmed that Australia is one of the important comprehensive strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific region and that Australia's support demonstrates the solidarity, friendship and special close relationship between the two countries.

The President suggested that the two countries promote economic connectivity, soon realize the target of two-way trade turnover of 20 billion USD and double two-way investment in the next 2-3 years; and welcomed Australia's investment in Vietnam in the first 6 months of this year, which exceeded 3 billion USD.

The Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade emphasized that Australia always considers Vietnam an important partner in the region and wishes to continue to further develop the bilateral relationship.

The Australian Government always welcomes and welcomes Vietnamese students and researchers to study in Australia. Vietnam has the 4th largest number of students in Australia.

Australia is ready to expand cooperation in capacity building training and knowledge sharing in areas where Australia has strengths such as environment, energy transition, mining, etc.

The Prime Minister said that the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention is an important international event and Vietnam is honored to host it. The Convention will create a new corridor and legal framework, helping member countries around the world join hands to fight cybercrime, contributing to ensuring global cyber security and safety.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the continued development of the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. In 2025, many key projects will be implemented as planned, meeting the set requirements. In particular, in the economic and trade fields, bilateral trade turnover in the first 9 months of this year reached 2.4 billion USD, up 57.1% over the same period last year.

Vietnam has consistently given top priority to the special "unique" relationship with Laos, and strongly and comprehensively supported Laos's efforts to protect, build, innovate and develop.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen and closely coordinate to effectively and timely implement key projects between the two countries.
